I forgot to mention How much i loved this games graphics bought it for that reason hahaha then I played it wow crazy shit! haha lots of fun!
If Voodo5 was Double data ram there card would have been way better.. the faster the ram the smoother the gameplay when shit gets out of control action. to bad man.
Dude cool Video I still have my Voodoo5 and I'm gonna buy a new motherboard AGP, tower and a 2800 dual core plus + with the fastest ram I can put on their with a fast harddrive and keep my vood5 for older games forever.
This card was the one to have if you were stuck with a system that only had PCI slots. It was one of the few cards you could buy in PCI that wasn't slower than the AGP version. AGP 2x was only about as fast as 66mhz PCI and the Voodoo 5 didn't even come close to saturating the AGP 2x bus. Running the same game side by side on an AGP V5 and a PCI V5 wouldn't show any really noticeable increase in speed. The best reason for having an AGP V5 over a PCI was to free up a PCI slot. That's all.
@gamewizard True AGP and PCI ran the same speed even today PCI is very fast they just make a reason to buy a new motherboard .. sales keeps them alive bud..think about it.
Actually, AGP is faster just some cards didn't take advantage of the full speed. We're talking about AGP 2X here, not 4x/8x. 4x/8x are much faster and it took a while before cards started saturating the AGP bus. PCI is normally 33mhz but on some server boards there were 66mhz PCI slots, which are the slots that I was comparing AGP 2x to. As far as the Voodoo 5 goes, you just have to look at comparison tests to see the speeds are about the same between AGP and PCI versions.
I remember see this card for sale at CompUSA back in 2000 for $299.99....about a month later 3DFX was shutdown :( I was shocked. Still have my Voodoo 3 3000 from 1999.
@1700iDiGuy their tech is isn't it? I thought Nvidia bought them out... Side note I still have a working Voodoo Rush and it totally changed my life when it was new in 1996 :)
@1700iDiGuy Ya they were untuchable in their day but Intel CPU's and ram were a bit under speed making Voodo5's Not shine like they did later but then it was to late.
Nvidia had money to buy them out, that what happend when your on the stock market of investors. Nvidia bought 51 percent and bam they owned the company.
Sad thing was this card was brought out when Intel made the new 500 and 700 Mhz shitty processor.
This card was top on a 3.0 Gig CPU It ran any games smooth and fast.

@gamewizard You know what your right ! For what it was it was incredably fast.
I wonder if they built a supper fast CPU 5000+ and added a AGP slot on the motherboard for older cards like they do PCI and see the Voodo05 shine..
I still love my Voodoo2's they run all the games at 1024 x 768 32 bit all graphics full details in GLide go figure that one out.

@Dorisequador The V5 can run on PCI slot pretty fast. The V2's tho... they only can do 16 bit color (I still have a pair of em too :) )
