umm, im from finland, and im also a finnish-swede. (dont really know what its called in english) (suomenruotsalainen)

but we are against sweden in one of many reasons, history. They ruled over us for a long time. We get revenge in an non harming way, like icehockey and so on :P

I really, REALLY don't get the rivalry between Finland & Sweden but from what I've seen it seems to be kinda one sided..

There's way more Finnish people badmouthing Swedes than vice versa, so yeah I think it's pretty one sided.

@RetroZombieTV Well, why do Americans hate Canadians, lol? Examples to answer your question: 1. We're neighbors, 2. Finland was owned by Sweden a long time ago (our independence day is mid-December), 3. Both of us think the other country's language/accent sounds silly (aboot Canada eh?) 4. Sports rivarly (ice hockey, soccer etc.)... 5. Humorous/friendly jabs at the neighbor - I think this is the closest. The only folks who genuinely hate are war-vets etc.

It's pretty self-explanatory to me? :)

During that time, when Finland tried to become autonomous, swedes tried to suppress everything finnish, as they considered us lower than themselves. They thought the swedish language was better and finns were forced to learn swedish, and they suppressed finnish literature. Later after Finland had been under Russian control we were finally able to become autonomous.

But to this day we're still forced to learn obligatory swedish in our schools.
