@xxkil Alfalfa is a grade of grass. When grass goes to hay, the hay can come in varying qualities. Alfalfa grade hay is considered to be the highest grade of hay.

I can remember as a child, I used to collect the 'Sky King' figurines that came tucked free inside the boxes of Nabisco 'Wheat Honeys' and 'Rice Honeys!' I owned a figure each of Sky, {enny and the Cessna 'Songbird' plane! I can't remember, after all these years, whatever became of them! They'd be worth a mint now!

As a 6 yr old when this came out, I wasn't aware of how well endowed "Penny" was !! Ditto the crush though. I remember thinking she was kind of a young version of Marilyn Monroe or Jayne Mansfield with the blonde hair and dark brows. Ole' Sky was like my favorite uncle, a no-nonsense straight-shooter always helping the under-dog. Yes, there were actual people like that back then.

What IS Alfalfa? I've heard of Alfalfa sprouts all of my life. Is it something they put in bread to make it more nutritous, or flour?

@Sheri451 Alfalfa is a legume plant that is grown primarily as a forage crop. It can be cut and cured and they baled or it can be chopped as silage. Either form is then used as cattle feed.

@polachee I really loved The Little Rascall's, Buckwheat and farina and especially Stymie were my favorite children, Plus Alfalfa, I loved him best when he first came on there with his two front teeth missing, The little boy sang with his whole heart then. Later on he just put on the act with the singing.

I met Kirby Grant in the parking lot of the local grocery store when I was a kid and Sky King was my hero. He sat at a table and signed autographs here for hours and was very nice to all of us.

I remember "Sky King" from my childhood. The Cessna 310 plane that replaced the earlier T-50 was affectionately called the 'Songbird.'

It is disheartening after all these years to learn that he was ignorant to a lot of his fans according to mikeylorene's comment below. Good show, but an arrogant lead actor kind of ruins the memories...

I have Sky King's autograph- he appeared at a grocery store parking lot in N.Miami Fla. and he refused to sign my autograph book- my Mom got real mad and yelled how can you make these kids come out here to see you and not sign their books? He grabbed my book and angrily signed it. He wasn't nice at all.
