  • danzig gets bored so he moves on.love his work in the misfits and early danzig.

  • Samhain is gothic post punk

  • 14 year old would hate 29 year old me for saying this... But Samhain was the best Danzig project. The Misfits have my heart, but Samhain has the soul! Seeing the Samhain reunion at age 18 in 99' was amazing!!!

  • @Mozzer232 ur comment is dead on! how i feel...to bad for me, i was too much into drugs to know danzig/samhain came to Houston in 99..im so fucked cause of that.. would have been show of my life...

  • @Mozzer232 i was there in hollywood glad you could share the experience i head butted some1 for dancin like a fag my only regret was i didnt stomp his face

  • Wicked simply wicked. Thanks for the upload.

  • The Instrumentals remind me of Baushaus :) Very Nice

  • I think this one's better than the album version!

  • The Beast has come. I am the End.

  • One of the best bass lines-ever!

  • I like it

  • So this band is like the more upbeat version of Misfits?

  • @kingxskippy Look up To Walk The Night by them, that'll answer your questin

  • @kingxskippy No like a sped down and more dark version of the misfits.

  • @kingxskippy NO DIFFERENT LINEUP THIS ISNT HORROR PUNK ITS PAGAN ROCK

  • THE BEAST HAS COME, I AM THE END!!! THIS VERSION IS FUCKING AWESOME!

  • where do you get this stuff?

btw thanks for the all glenn danzig related music that you post

  • So is this a version with Jerry's base overdubbed?

  • @onlyelisha Jerry never overdubbed bass, his bass-track is on the original recording. Al Pike did the bass overdubbs on this recording.

It's all in the video-info by the way.

  • @Honkofthewall thanks was confused about that

  • @onlyelisha THATS NOT JERRY ONLY ITS EERIE VON!

  • @77DodgeTradesmanB200 Your a idiot. its JERRY. it even says it in the info. Its before Samhain was around!

  • Aces~!

  • Honkofthewall...

    You're the best, man... U.U

  • my balls itch archangel

  • This is mint, thanks for sharing it, your channel is full of treasures of great sht! Who is your favorite death rock band? I value Samhain, and Christian Death with Rozz (early days) as the creme de la cream!

  • prrrrrrrrfect.

  • My first time hearing Samhain...

It ain't bad. Why did Danzig leave Misfits, though? Also strange how he'd later go into Metal, with 'Danzig'...

  • @TheEndKing Long story short: he wasn't too fond of his fellow musicians.

  • @Honkofthewall: Hmm...well being a Danzig(band) fan, I can't complain too much, but even still, kind of unfortunate when the artistic sorts are also the antisocial sorts...

BTW, Honk, you have been my biggest help in learning about the Misfits, and discovering the joy of them. Thanks a mill, bro.

  • @TheEndKing No problem man!

  • @Honkofthewall Also, add to the fact by Danzig leaving was officially the end of The Misfits. Accept no cheap reunion attempts and subsequent tomfoolery.

  • @TheEndKing hey man it look like you know your misfits and all the shit that happnd between them

  • @lostbeatle420: Hey thanks, man. I learned entirely through songs, and youtube comments.

Oh! Hey! Looks like I found the Lost Beatle! How cool is that, huh?!

  • @TheEndKing misfits wanted to play faster shit (metal was coming into its won at the time) ..dainzig wanted to play slower darker shit (e.g. smahain style)..musical differences..

  • this song is the best..

  • Can't find ANY info on this..WHO is playing guitar?? If this infact were recorded in 1981 it would mean Bobby was OUT of the band and the guitar licks sound NOTHING like Doyle or even Glenn's styles of playing, tone, etc..Misfits Central DOESN'T list the guitarist??

  • @dgenerated I already replied to you on the 7thHouse, but anyway: it's Glenn playing guitar (rythm & lead).

  • How do i get a copy of this song

  • i need this for a video im making, how do i get it?

  • @dillyflap Send me a PM on YouTube.

  • ...fro the sin of pride misused.

  • muahahahaha >:D i can get this MP3, without your messages!!

  • @JesusPassTheBong777 Congrats.

  • @JesusPassTheBong777 so can everyone else in the world by going to google and typing in convert youtube to mp3 you moron

  • Hello, can I get an mp3 of this please?

  • @lament1982 Just send a Private Message to me, it's not that hard to press a button on YouTube.

  • Honk of the wall, where did you get this, this is sick !!!!!!!!!! I love it !!! One of the best bands ever and one of their best songs ever. Can I get this on a cd?

  • @lament1982 PM me, if you want an .mp3 file of the upload.

  • Wait this is the version with jerry playing bass? Holy shit this is sweet. Thanks Honk!

  • @Gopedanarchist

    No Jerry in this recording.

The bass duties on this song are actually handled by a man Named Al Pike.

  • @DonOfTheDead6 Jerry is on the recording. It has two bass lines, the original recording featured only Glenn and Jerry, Al Pike later added his own bass track. Glenn also added some backing vocals later on.

  • @Honkofthewall

Oh wow, I totally missed that!

I remember Eerie Recording over Pikes but yes thats correct..Jerry is indeed on that track.

I'm surprised Jerry hasnt tried to sue glenn for the rights to the name "Samhain" lol

  • @Honkofthewall I thought the original track was NOT in circulation and that track featured ONLY Glenn and Jerry?? I thought this track has Al Pike recording ENTIRELY OVER Jerry's track and then GLENN added his own SECOND bass track? I've often been confused by these archangel sessions. And WHO is playing guitar?

  • samhain is an ancient Gaelic harvest festival it was an early form of Halloween act like you know

  • what does samhain mean?

  • You could describe it as the pagan Halloween.

  • the guitar work at the end of this song is probably my favorite of any song with guitar in it.

  • are you certain that this isn't just a remix of the version that is on Initium?

  • Yes, I am. You can hear a lot of differences that aren't just caused by the mix. It's also a minute longer than the album version.

  • so good!

  • Wonder why Dave Vanian passed on it...or did he?

Maybe G-Danz just liked it and decided to keep it

  • As far as I'm concerned, they just didn't get to record it together. So when Glenn did Initium, he remembered the song and put it on it as well.

  • Good thing he did; it's one of, if not *the* best song on Initium IMO...

I like the guitar sounds toward the end of the song...if I'm not mistaken, it's Lyle Preslar (who used to be in Minor Threat)...playing

  • No, Glenn's playing guitar on the studio track and on the demo. But Lyle did a few songs on Initium, yes.

  • ARRCHHH ANGGELLLL OOOOHHH

  • yup, his voice sounds more mature on this

  • I dunno Misfits had such a Rock N Roll feeling to it with Danzig though...Always takes me back...

  • This is a fantastic version, did they turn up the instruments towards the end? Good job.

  • I agree that the vocals are better on this version. They are more brooding like his later Danzig I vocals. The Initium version, however, has louder instrumentation which is lacking here. Where can I get this version of the song?

  • If you want an MP3 of any of my uploads, just send me a PM!

  • whats pm

  • Private Message.

  • hey i tried downloading the song ive never used the rapid thing before how do i do it

  • Don't worry. It's very straightforward. Once it loads up just click download, select where you want it to save and when the download is finished it will be on your hard drive.

  • this sounds just like the one on Initium.

  • awesome.....i dig the vocals on this version

  • 2 kool

  • This is very similar to the "Initium" version. But I think I like the vocals on this one better.

  • I think he just changed it. The Guitar and bass sound different so I guess he just overdubbed it.

  • Honkofthewall this is for you....

    You a B.A.MoFo for this....

    props.

  • The Theme Of The Santo

  • "Theme for Monsanto"

    (hahhahahahahahaha!)

    aaaaaa it's the corporations!

    -Ixxx

  • this certainly has a "damned" feel to it.. no wonder he wrote this for dave. hey honk u got any of this samhain stuff in mp3? please comment back. thanks.

  • If you want the .mp3s to any stuff I uploaded, please write me a PM. But at the moment is a bad time, since my PC is in repair, so you gotta wait a week or so, until you get the files.

  • you can find these mp3s lots of places, soulseek for one. or misfitscentral or look for torrents.

  • Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Definitely a perfect fit. Does anyone know what kind of response it got from Vanian?

    JW

  • only 26,000 views? This song should be in the top videos ever seen on YouTube. It beats a lot of the other shit now-a-days.

  • @LetInsanityReign Totally, great music and no one promotes it. Instead we get what we get on the radio.. McDonald's music.

  • @LetInsanityReign who cares about a popularity contest...

  • Yeah. . .it's from a Cracker Jax Box. No, I had the T-shirt. . .it's in my mum's basement covered in mouse shit.

  • A Cracker Jax Box!?

    -Ixxx

  • Ahuh. What???

  • what, what? there haven't been more than like 4 peanuts in a box of cracker jax since 1979!

sweepie byes for Iveeeee. . .

    -Ixxx

  • how old are u?

  • 34. However i feel about 55.

    -Ixxx

  • yeah. . . it's from a Cracker Jax Box. Okay. . .I stopped looking 20 years ago, i am older than dirt, but i believe the image is from a poster.

  • Is this real?.. I know there were special/limited editions and proof of purchase deals but I've never scene this in any record shop

  • Yeah dude, its real. *Seen*

  • anyone have a link I can download this from?????

    I'd be grateful.

  • google samhain - initium

  • Danzig recorded an early version of "Archangel" was recorded at Mix-O-Lydian Studio in Boonton, NJ in 1981 while a member of The Misfits. At this session, Danzig added background vocal tracks and an additional bass drum track. Al Pike recorded a new bass track directly over Jerry Only's original. Mike Gutilla added keyboards and Eerie Von later added his own bass tracks

  • How about the guitar?

  • Danzig played guitar on this track

  • Cool! Also, why are there only three guys on the cover of their covers.

  • I'm not quite sure about that

  • Hmph...Maybe because of the replacing of drummers.

  • You mean guitarist. Steve Zing was the drummer, he's on the right.

  • Oh. I also heard he had numerous musicians for this first album.

  • thanks for posting

    [smiles]

  • hey man fangs for this vid...

  • loved this little niiger since i was 12.... 20 years ago in the gutter 80s.... never heard this fucking song... i love it !

  • wow this is the first time i've heard this version

  • Great version of this song! It's probably my favorite Samhain song!

  • i wish there was a studio version of the faster archangel without that demon voice in the background like they used to play live

  • I love that demon voice in the background.

  • This is not from 81 by the way.

  • It is.

  • Im not trying to disprove you, but what proof do you have that this is from 81? I believe you are wrong.

  • and what proof do you have that is isnt from 81?

  • There were only 3 demo recordings:

One without lyrics, this one with lyrics and Jerrys bass, and the actual recording for the album without vocals.

So this has to be the second one and this was recorded 1981.

  • Wait so this is Jerry only on bass and Glen singing So shouldnt it really be like Early misfits

  • It was written for Al Pike, but he never did the vocals so this was a demo made for him, but you're right technically it's the Misfits.

  • It was written for Dave Vanian of The Damned. Al Pike plays bass on the Initium version.

  • Very good. Might well be my favorite of Samhain's material. The only unfortunate thing is that it now makes my box set feel incomplete. Perhaps someday it will be re-released with a DVD and a disc of out-takes like this. There is more to each of the gigs on the tape, so maybe someday.

  • grate song !!!

  • one of the best songs ever

  • who's singing back up?

  • It,s Danzig. Multitrack.

  • so good.

  • Yea wheres it from!? Thanks for posting

  • where did this come from? i'm pretty sure i've heard it before, but i don't think it's on the box set...my copy of which is currently in a storage locker with all my other box sets.

  • This song is so chilling and relaxed, I love the groovy vibe to it, makes me lightly nod my head and want to close my eyes and imagine.

    Danzig is a musical mastermind.

  • god why is it so hard to buy these albums,i missed alot of great music when i was not born

  • download them its not quite as cool as having it but at least ya have it

  • yeah ive been trying to get the box set but its so damn expensive :(

  • I fucking know right? I saved up for like a month to get it.

  • where did u buy it?

  • Online.

  • great version! thanks for the vid!

  • Danzig Danzig Danzig!!! Woohoo! Love this song. BEST EVER!!! Defiant Brood!

  • wow this sounds like a mix between misfits and joy division ^^

  • this sound the same as samhains version, why is everyone so in love with it? cuz jerrys on bass? big deal its the same song just longer. Dont get me wrong its an awesome song my favorite of samhain actually but whats the big deal about this version?

  • The vocals are much more pronounced, in the other version they're drowned out.

  • great recording Honk,do u have others like this?

  • Other versions of the song?

I only have this and the original album version.

  • fudge yeah mother fudger

  • love this version. samhain albums have horrible engineering.

  • thats wat i like about em-they're raw and real

  • kick thesef*king guitars like jackhammers Christmass special RIP 10 /30/08

  • This is an awesome song. One of my favorites.

    When was this recorded? 1981-83?

  • Glenn (vox, guitar, drums) recorded it 1981 together with Jerry (bass).

  • Wow, where did you obtain all these great demos? Thanks so much for posting this, a supremely great song!

  • why wasnt this the original that they released this sounds so much better

  • Know where I can get the mp3? I love how the solo isn't a drowned out as it is in the final version.

we who live are ever dead.

  • PM me.
