Bad bull.
It's not like it is a war memorial or anything. This was fueled by a selfish desire to do what WE want and to hell with tradition and respect. New Army has arrived and is stronger than ever.....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well, I'm fairly certain you are an Aggie, otherwise you wouldn't know about this. But the fact that people are so aggressively defending this rave when so many view it as disrespectful proves that selfishness and outright disrespect is contaminating A&M. What makes it acceptable to hold a rave in a building that has signs about it asking that nobody even wear a hat inside?
And as to your "unprotected sex" claim...I can't say whether this is true or not, but what relevance does that have on the situation? Go to Northgate on a Thursday night and I'm sure you'll see plenty of people who will do the same thing that night, what are you going to do? Its not your place to condemn people for making a decision that is theirs to make. There is nothing illegal about that or even unethical. Just because you wouldn't do it doesn't give you the right to judge others.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Wow, hilarious. You are defending people for the spread of AIDS, various other diseases, swine flu, and then you attack me. Who are YOU to CONDEMN ME for pointing out FACTS? There's nothing illegal or unethical about what I am doing. See the hypocrisy?
And technically fornication is illegal, just not really enforced. Funny that you are ignorant of that as well. Don't even get me started on consent laws when someone is on drugs or drunk as in this case.
Firebert, you really are an idiot. You like to throw out these completely unfounded accusations and stereotypes, with absolutely nothing to back them up. "...there's absolutely no way you can prove that everyone didn't take drugs." No shit, but there is also no way that you can prove that ANYONE DID. I'm not going to say that absolutely noone did, but those people would be doing that anyway. Like everyone else has said, its highly doubtful someone is goign to take E for a 10 minute rave.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Wow, you obviously have never taken a science course in college.
You really think it is possible to prove that several hundred people DIDN'T take drugs? Explain how you would partake in such a task. You would have to video tape EVERY PERSON for several hours beforehand and during the rave. Did you or anyone else do that? No.
I, on the other hand, have directed everyone to where the video is, but you have CHOSEN not to go look at it. That is proof that "ANYONE DID OMG." Quit whining and go see.
Saying someone who listens to techno does ecstasy is about as ignorant as saying someone who listens to country music has sex with cows.
People who judge others by their taste in music need to grow up. We are all different. Embrace it. There's already enough intolerance and bigotry in this world. What's wrong with appreciating a genre of music that's easy to dance to?
Firebert, unless you've got something intelligent to add to this comment board, I'd refrain from any further posts. Thanks.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I don't like country either, but when has country ever been associated with having sex with cows? People actually do ecstasy at raves. That is a fact. Just because you don't like that people are saying it doesn't mean it isn't true.
Now, this was in the morning so probably quite a few weren't on ecstasy, but I'd say it was still a large majority.
What better way to preach a message of intolerance than to tell everyone who disagrees to shut up? Hypocrite.
Most of the people that participated in this were not ravers. They were just college kids that wanted to do something fun.
Also, throwing all people that listen to electronic music into a stereotype is ridiculous. Have you ever thought that maybe people just enjoy dancing around and having fun without drugs?
Another thing, I have to point out that most of the people angry about this are self-righteous students who really need to lighten up and enjoy their lives a bit more.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh, that makes tons of sense. They were ravers, just people participating in a rave. Hurrrrrrr.
It's not a stereotype, it's true. I have been told by many about the drugs that were being passed around in the flag room. It's simply disgraceful to do that in the MSC.
Listen, we get that you think that people need to lighten up about doing ecstasy. You've said it in basically every comment you've made. You might as well just start an Aggie Drug Club and do more to disgrace the university.
Let me get this straight, you think that people were passing around and taking Ecstasy, a drug which takes, at the very least, 20 minutes to begin to have any affect whatsoever, during 9-minute flash mob rave? Anyone who would do E would know that taking the drug during the event would have been a waste, as its effects would not be felt until after the event.
So, you are telling me that people recorded themselves using illegal substances, and then made those videos widely available? People who use drugs are generally more cautious than that.
I cannot get on DC++ since I live off campus and don't feel like fiddling with VPN's. Perhaps you would be so kind as to upload said video? But, wait, why would someone as ethically superior as yourself have such a program?
Honestly, I'm beginning to suspect the presence of a troll...
*shrug* I'm not the one who made it available. Generally people on drugs are not very bright.
I am not on campus right now either. I will not upload it either because I know a few of the people involved and it would not be good for me to get them kicked out of school, for my sake. Common sense, man.
There's nothing unethical about using DC++. I use it only to allow others to download my acapella songs. Nothing illegal or unethical about that.
"I'm not the one who made it available" Irrelevant
"Generally people on drugs are not very bright." Support for this claim? (And "I think drugs are stupid" doesn't count)
"I will not upload it either because I know a few of the people involved and it would not be good for me to get them kicked out of school, for my sake" You say that you have evidence, but that you cannot reveal said evidence for some reason. Since you cannot produce the evidence, you do not, in fact, have any evidence.
Furthermore, it makes more sense for people to not have done E than to have done E. The effects of E last up to eight hours. It would be a waste to take E and enjoy a semi-rave for 10 minutes, then have to pretend to be a normal college student for the remainder of the trip.
"There's nothing unethical about using DC++. I use it only to allow others to download my acapella songs. Nothing illegal or unethical about that." Of course.
Haha, funny how you are making excuses for people. Nah, like I said people were having unprotected sex afterward. I guess you missed that part, or you can't read.
Tons of people use P2P for legal purposes, but if you're talking about trading mp3's of popular music, even calling that unethical is a bit idiotic. Many people feel that it should be just as legal as listening to the radio. Just because something is illegal doesn't make it unethical. Try using words you actually know the meaning of.
Where did I make an excuse? Excuses justify, or attempt to justify actions. I have not attempted to justify the use of drugs. I have said that no one did drugs. These are different things. Logic; it works.
You have yet to give one shred of evidence to the claim that people were having unprotected sex afterward. You are going to point me to this supposed video, although you are going to do so without giving me any information about it, therefore making it nearly impossible to find.
Stupid point, because there's absolutely no way you can prove that everyone didn't take drugs. Furthermore, never said I have the video, just said I wouldn't post it if I did. You can find it yourself if you wish. Not my problem if you CHOOSE to remain ignorant.
You are fucking retarded. No one is going to take E for a 12 minute rave, in the middle of the day on a Thursday. You are lying, no one told you there were drugs there, and if they did, THEY were lying. Quit with the stereotypes and learn to think for yourself. It's people like you who make A&M look bad to the rest of the country, its people like you who the majority of campus are trying to get away from.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh look, now the people who disagree are throwing out insults. How big of you.
I already pointed out that I have seen a video of people doing it. That's not a stereotype, it's the truth. Just because you are blind does not mean it is false.
It's also insulting to say that I am the one that makes A&M look bad, while you defend people taking ecstasy and dancing around in a MEMORIAL TO FALLEN SOLDIERS before they go have unprotected sex in their dorm room. Oh yes, what an embarrassment I am. lol.
I don't know of a single person who took any drug at 12:15 before they raved for 10 minutes
This was just a bunch of Aggies getting together before finals, to send off the MSC

This is the most blatantly disrespectful thing I have ever witnessed as a student here at A&M. I cannot believe so many people who claim to be Aggies would "rave" in a place built as a living memorial to all of A&M's service men and women who have given their lives fighting for our nation. Thousands of brave men have walked those halls, and it's my bet that few, if any, would have found the behavior exhibited - jumping all over the couches and being loud and disruptive - to be at all honorable.
seriously. people like you have to try & ruin everything for everyone.
This was not a sign of disrespect at all. if you actually watch the whole thing, or attended the rave like a lot of PROUD aggies, you would know that we did the war hymn & afterwards were chanting MSC. It was out of love for the many memories & services the MSC has provided, this was our way of saying goodbye. A great way for saying goodbye. GOOD JOB EVERYONE WHO ACTUALLY HAD AGGIE SPIRIT THAT DAY! thanks & gig em!

For your information I dont do drugs and you are an idiot for thinking that everyone in college station does ecstasy and dresses like that. You are ignorant
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I didn't say everyone in College Station does ecstasy. I was referring to the people who love techno. I live in College Station, and I don't do ecstasy. I was replying to the person that said College Station needs more techno.
Do you think anyone was actually on ecstasy? Its just a bunch of people blowin off some steam. Seems like you should consider finding some sort of stress relief too.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh, okay, so "blowing off some steam" by doing ecstasy is cool now. I find my own ways to calm myself, I don't need drugs and unprotected sex like some losers.
I am still very impressed about how the student body came together to celebrate the life of the MSC and welcome to the future in such a positive way! Just looking at how happy each and every one of the aggies in this video is really shows how beloved the MSC is to the student body and how much this "Living Room" of campus will be missed! I'm so glad we have a group at A&M that wants to celebrate both life and the past!

I didn't say everyone in College Station does ecstasy. I was referring to the people who love techno. I live in College Station, and I don't do ecstasy. I was replying to the person that said College Station needs more techno.

Obviously you do, or you wouldn't like techno. No sober person could. Oh, unless they were getting unprotected sex from a hot, idiotic raver chick.

thats just a common stereotype, I like the music because i enjoy listening to it and dancing to it, just like any other genre,
IF this is your logic then you are ignorant

oh, so you're saying that you use ecstasy when you listen to any form of music... that's reassuring

Do you think anyone was actually on ecstasy? Its just a bunch of people blowin off some steam. Seems like you should consider finding some sort of stress relief too.

Thanks and Gig 'Em!
