Drove this car at Mercedes World at the old Brooklands circuit. It's as good maybe even better to drive than you think. The exhaust noise is even better in real life as well. Brilliant car, work of engineering excellence.

I drove the SLS. The shifting is insane. Its just a rocket. Constant acceleration. And it launches beautifuly from a stop, with traction on of course. Wish I could drive it again, but will prob be the first and only time in my life! AMG mode is the way to go!

@nawzy202 They've put this trans, albeit not in transaxle form, in the SL63 and E63 latest versions, I haven't piloted an SLS yet, though :P The shifts make the tail step out because they're so quick in the hardest mode!

@crayman31 Correction. SLS uses Getrag gearbox (btw same gearbox as Ferrari 458 itatlia). SL63 and E63 use AMG tuned Merc's own 7-G tronic without torque converter, it shifts fast but not as fast as dual clutch from Getrag.

@mastadriver I did some research, and you're right. They're both 7-speed dual clutch systems so I assumed they were the same internal setup carried over from the MCT E63/SL63. I should get to drive an SLS soon to let you know how much faster they shift - if I can tell! :)

There is no general speed limit on the german autobahn. To drive 155mph down the motorway is noting unusally here. And the 155 is a self employed speed limit by the car producers.

So therefore getting a ticket of 160mph is easily possible if you oversee the signs an race passed a speed camera, possibly due to a SLS behind you which is chasing you & flashing his lights ;-)

Yes, the LF-A will be 500 lbs lighter and faster. It will also bee more exciting and sound 10 times nicer. It easily outrun just about any production car around Nurburgring (hence, won the Nurburgring 24-hour series). However, it will be more expensive as well.

The ZR1 has regular dunlap runflats while the GT2 used R-compound race sport cup tires. if the ZR1 used R-compound tires it would shave 3-4s off their 7:26.4 nurburgring time. porsche and nissan cheated not gm.

Walther Rohrl, one of the best drivers in the World, drove with the Carrera Gt only 7:28 and other manufactors hired the ZR1 for the ring and cant do the times schown in the video, so im highly sceptical about it.

If somebody have the money for a Carrera GT he will upgrade it fpr 20k with a turbo if its really important for the buyer because probably 4% of the buyers will use those cars on a track.
