How many of you know the meaning of the word "jihad" ?

The word has 2 meanings 1. A war or struggle against unbelievers and 2. The spiritual struggle within oneself against sin. From his speech what I can gather is that he terms his contest as a struggle against the people (within Islam) who are destroying it. What's wrong in it? Now a days the term 'jihad' is connected a lot with terrorists and bombs. But that doesnt mean that its a forbidden word. Raise above narrow religious considerations.
