Is the last ending the one where the Silver Hawk flies back to Orga? I always managed to get that one taking the topmost route and losing either a life or none at all. Are the two player endings the same as single player or is there any difference?
@CountVonwinkle Although, I never tried 2 player, the lives lost requirement is not as strict as 1 player IMO. Path choice seems to be most important in getting a particular ending. Other than the ships being red and blue instead of green, the endings are the same.
I don't have proof, but I think that H-Karudo (Red Mist) and K-Horolain (Hyper Greatthing) (along with lives lost) are checks that determine an ending.
There is a Wikipedia article that states the certain requirements needed to obtain these endings. If this is useless, sorry about that. If not, great.
@drawesomekid I saw the article. There are two big gripes I have with it.
1.) I never went to J-Noemu, so i didn't fight Full Metal Shell. Unless there is an alternate way to achieve the ending, it seems to be bad info.
2.) I previously uploaded a video without the "Try again" ending. Czeineh commented about this and after I confirmed his method, I made this video and deleted the old one. However, he did say that if you fail to defeat ANY boss and beat the game, "Try again" occurs.
@drawesomekid about 2.), Super Alloy Lantern was used for convenience. I don't have the reflexes to deal with Great Tusk for a long period, nor do I think the battle can be timed out, anyway. It would be great if the guys from TASvideos do a thorough dissection of this game.
The soundtrack is top-notch. The Darius games, and other multi-route games, had great replay value. The music also added to that. It's John Williams quality!
@leon4000 Sorry, the last I have is G-Darius and Darius Gaiden from Taito Legends 2 (ps2). There are some youtube vids. It has a sharper look than G-Darius, but I think it looses points on action, IMO.
@dublinky I kept looking at the same videos of Darius Burst and it doesn't have much kick with the action unlike the previous Darius games. But its still fun nonetheless. Although the ending scenes (I"ve only seen one), I'm willing to bet that some are sad and depressing like G-Darius and Darius Gaiden. As for the music, some are just hit and miss. Zuntata still got it though. I'm trying to get the game and the soundtrack regardless. I'm don't want to be left out of recent darius titles.
Regarding the emails, my guess would be the rep didn't know or particularly care about the endings to a 20 year old game, so he just gave you a couple of non-answers.
it was my favourite game. but i didnt even know that it has different endings - amazing. the ending which has the colour stars, is the most beautiful.
The final ending you seek is simply the sliver hawk flying through space. You get this when you play on easy, I believe. In that case, I don't think it matters how many lives you lose (if any). At least, I'm pretty sure that's it. Whenever I played on easy, I always got that ending, and never really payed attention to the life counter 'cause I was usally destroying everything, lol. Nonetheless, great vid. I didn't know about ending D or C. I might have to go back and play the game, just to see.
I used to get that ending, too. I'm pretty sure that you can get the ending in normal, as well. However, gathering info from the e-mails (in description), level path, difficulty and lives used determine what ending you get.
There maybe a connection with planets H (Karudo) and K (Horolain).
Although I do not know the specifics, total lives lost seems to be a contributing factor on which ending you get.
It's strange to me as well since I have beaten this game many times and have not seen endings 2, 3, and 4 until now. Usually I get the default of Orga being invaded (not shown) or ending 1.
There is a part about the endings in the wikipedia entry.
That's incredible. I used to play Darius Twin on SNES with my friends all the time, and I've only seen one of these endings-- the one where the enemy's homeworld is discovered. The rest of the time it was always the message that Orga is under attack and you've got to fly home again...
Lol! I know what u mean. But i was just watching a vid on the final stage. All you gotta do is stay as low as possibe the whole way through! lol Boring but thats the easy way
Exactly, what ending is that? If you're talking about the red and blue ships, I'm sure that's because it was a 2-player game. In a one-player game you are always depicted as green; if two, 1P is red and 2P is blue.
When I Was Like 8 Years Old i use to play darius twin. and that was before i ever knew what Internet was and some how.. i got this colorful ending with the two shops spinning as they went down it was all colorful like the green ship ending but more... and ever since i have always tried to find it. but it was amazing... kinda sad is not their. il draw a picture.. only thing that will ever bring me close to that ending again.
I just figured out what causes the 5th ending. I didn't die once, but went to G instead of H, and I got the ending where I had to return to Orga.
This actually correlates with a piece of information I remember reading in the instruction booklet, something about finding the enemy's home planet/destroying the main fleet. I would look up exactly what it said, if I didn't leave it at my cousin's house. But it would make sense, since Sabia is aquatic, and fighting marine life is the theme. ^^
scratch that, I took the same path that I usually take, ACDEHJL, and for some reason I got that ending again. If it isn't the path, then what is it?
The difference I did with this run was shoot for a score of 5 million, didn't die, but I had to pause on the last stage because I was interrupted by something...could that be the cause of it?
You can actually look it up online at vmm dot net I found the quote in the story.
"Belser's original world remains unknown, but the most noted scientists believe it was largely oceanic because all of Belser's technology seems patterned after aquatic lifeforms"
I remember being bored one day and read the manual again, and when I read that I thought "hmm...I wonder if that's Sabia"
As for the endings in the video, the death count has a factor, but there's still some prerequisite...
I think I finally figured it out. You have to go to both H and K to get the best endings. They do have the hardest bosses out of those routes (Hyper Greatthing being harder then the final boss..), so it would make sense if you skipped them, they would be attacking your home planet.
What's dumb though is that I knew this when I was younger, but I simply forgot about it.
Been spending too much time on this game, but I love it! Even if it is an easy shmup. Its a good beginner's shooter.
Awesome! I always knew there were different endings, but I could never figure out what the requirements were. I always thought it was score based and dependent on what path you take.
mm.. when l have 7 years old my brother play this game and fight whit a boss dragon red was the 3 despues de la foca sorry i am not speak inglish.... and the ending of 2 player?
I don't think it was this game since there are no red dragons. The closest thing to a red dragon I can think of is in Darius Force/Super Nova, Zone N, named Megalopros. Defeating it will earn you the middle ending.
Ok, to get that 5th ending, I didn't die once and I also didn't care for shooting down enemies all the enemies on any area, a few bosses escaped (including the last one) and I got that 5th ending without trying.
I'm sorry. It took a little time to sink in who you are. When I saw the screenshots of your DT ending, I wanted to know how you did it. Now, I got the every ending but the most basic one and I'm still stumped as to how. I'm started to think that I might have to contact Taito (or Square Enix) and ask someone who actually worked on the game.
I used ZSNES and 4 save states at Super Alloylantern. I got ending #3 first, which I first saw at vgmuseum. I then wanted to see if number of deaths affected the ending, and I was right. I didn't know ending #2 existed. However, I couldn't get the normal ending. I kept getting ending #1 for deaths >= 2. Then, in a previous posting of the video, czeineh, told me how to get ending #4.

Yeah, most Darius games have more than one final level, which determines the ending. This one is tricky and I am still baffled.
They even put in an ending for not defeating a boss in time, lol

That's the problem. There are many possibilities on what triggers a different ending, but figuring the exact cause is the key.
I tried e-mailing Square Enix, since Taito is now a subsidiary, but they were of no help.
I think that your killing percentage and numbers of deaths in Zone L may trigger something.
However, your info on Sabia is interesting. I never had an instruction booklet.

Wow, 5 endings. I had no idea. Seemed kind of weird for a Darius game to only had one ending.
Ok so ending 1 is gotten by not dying once.
Ending 2, by dying once.
Ending 3 by dying 2 times.
And ending 4 by letting a boss escape.
So how do I get that other ending floating around in other videos?
I heard by your comments that dying more than 2 times doesn't get you a different ending.
So what one must do to get the 5th ending?
ReyVGM 4 years ago
My guess is if you die before getting to Zone L or if you don't kill a certain percentage in Zone L. All I can give are some tips.
1. Don't change the default options.
2. Try to destroy as much as you can fast. I know this will be easy until Zone L.
3. Don't die. I'm not sure but Zone L is special as far as which ending you will get, unless you let a boss escape.
4. Zone choices shouldn't affect the ending, but I don't know.
You flipped endings 1 and 3.
dublinky 4 years ago
Alrighty, I will try that and let you know how it went.

dublinky 4 years ago
Stupid 500 character limit. I'm gonna have to post this in a lot of messages.
To tell you the truth, I don't think it has to do just with getting killed.
I think it has to do with how you played and your score (maybe).
