great feel... where can I find a CD? Maybe post me a link to an online store?? I'm in Australia so probably will need to order it - golden_goose20@yahoo.com.au
Don't know if you are still around but I like your philosophy of silent space and you are easy to understand, with a pleasant demeanor, which makes for a great instructor. Breaking down the songs this way is how many of us would rather learn in the beginning. I would like future videos for timeless standards like "Soldiers Joy", "Old Joe Clark", Angeline the Baker" and "Shady Grove" broken down with your suggested variations and sense of style and rhythm. Thanks again.
I am so glad that I found your lessons. I have been stuck playing Julianne Johnson the same way for so long that it has become uninteresting. You have added new life to it for me. Thanks
Many thanks ~ I keep coming back to these videos for the birds singing and to hear you explaining the that the strange noise was a frog.........and last but not least the greatest banjo playing ~ and I 'm still struggling to get past my basic bum ditties.. perhaps there's an even more intermediate phase that I'm missing
seriously. your lessons are firing right at my level of play i learned Scruggs 20 odd years ago and have lived in an banjo information vacuum the whole time (rural OZ, i can count the banjos i have seen in last 10 yrs on one hand) If ONLY someone had shown me clawhammer its soooooooo much more instinctive. i jsut started again 3 months ago with claw after 15 or more years without playing. im lovin every moment of this new style and your lessons are makin the job even easier.
I'm glad the video was useful for you. I likely won't be posting tab because there's a lot of tab for J. Johnson already out there, and my hope is that people will develop the ability to learn variations by ear.
PS. Are those nylon strings or steel? What gauge and banjo? Sounds great.

@Robin18us Thank for your kind words. I think the strings were steel, probably medium weight. The banjo is an old Stewart pot with a newish neck.

you're amazing and one of the best frailers I have heard.

The frog is singing in tune! You must be near a pond or lake. Great playing. Thanks. Thumbs up.

The reason you like to "leave a little space" is because you understand the beauty in what you're doing.

Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed it. Would you consider posting the tab for the "swingy" version of J Johnson?
