  • antarctica who caes this shit

  • How long is this runway. Does it have ILS?

  • @MrDanieldb

Runway 02/20 (grid degrees, not magnetic) is about 12,000 ft (ice) . No ILS, uses NDB, Radar or GPS approaches.

  • and what about the 4, 20, 20, 10 it only said 50

  • very cool, thanks for sharing

  • Well done to the USA for putting their stamp on the South Pole.

  • holy shit, i take that the brake are useless on those tire?

  • @lass1234

No, the iceway is grooved, and it's fairly long.

  • is that a runway??

  • @Shreytherockstar1

Yes....well, to be accurate, an iceway.

  • Wow!

  • that's a bumpy ride! nice vid man, appreciate your commitment to this subject

  • Nice place to visit, but I... actually, no. Scratch that.

  • Once again airboyd solidifies (no pun) his channel as one of the most entertaining places on YouTube with another captivating video submission. Oh my!

  • i'd so live there

  • This is a fantastic video!! I love flying. This is quite something !!! I imagine that the time at the airport would be very limited, as the engines would freeze up.

  • @cattleman6420012000

The engines are usually kept running while there. It's cold, but not any colder than when up in the air 30,000 ft.

  • Too funny. Minimums? I wonder what OROCA or MEA is LOL

  • @BeechSundowner

Funny you should ask, as I have the actual (probably a little out of date) charts as used by the 109th. It lists a 10NM circle MSA at 12000. The runway's elev is 9301. Approach on my chart is using TACAM SKIWAY 2G. It's an old chart (1990) and they probably have GPS approaches now.

  • Respond to this video...

Oh, and the minimums listed were:

    S-TAC 2G: 9570-1 Cat C.

CIRCLING: N/A (you aren't allowed to circle, due to the no-fly clean area zone)

  • Holy crap!

  • what kind of plane is that and what is the outside temperature?

  • Canadair CL-600-2B16 Challenger 601-3R . Not too sure about the outside temperature. Mean winter temp's range from -40 to -94 F and mean summer temp's range from -5 to -31 F.

  • thanks for the info

  • is that an airport??? lololol

  • wow .. just barely see the airport
