i am a nicu nurse in the most premiere children's hospital in the Philippines. how i wish to dispense my knowledge and skills in this kind of hospital
wahahahaha, i want to be a neonatal nurse soooooo badly; freshmen in high school but i know what i want after high school!(: gahh; it's exciting and scary at the same time...
Fuck all nicu doctors, most are stupid anyway an frustrated surgeons or just plain lazy.Nurses have to do ALL the crap docs,PAs dont feel like doing.Everyday NIcus and management, docs, etc look for ways to make the nurse do more! Managers are so ungrateful to the best nurses turning them into robots, yes men and asskissers.Managers never protect and defend nursing ,they do not even remember having been a nurse. Smart parents are NICE to NUrses and give happiness ,love appreciation for all .
when i did a search for 'nurse tv' this wasnt what i had in mind. but now my underpants are back on, i have to say being icu nurse seems a tough job. it looks like it would be hard on the emotions. plus skilled with a lot to learn and know. takes a strong combo for that. i wonder if they get paid more than normal.
@PurpleGiraffe99 Well I attained my bachelor's in Nursing. (BSN) and Then went back for my Master's. Am attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. They have a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner degree. A lot of schools are starting programs for this. It's slowly becoming more popular. So just start looking into colleges around you and seeing what they offer. You can always call and ask someone what it would take to finish their program. Good Luck!
@fp853 : Nurses do all the dirty work for the Doctors, so lets BE KIND TO NURSES. What you said may be true but you don't have to keep bringing it up, like your any better than nurses.
it's not 9 years of studying, after 4 years of an undergrad, it is usually just experience/internship from there. A graduate degree may be pursued as well, but it is only an additional 1 to 2 years (3 for some nursing specialties).
@iloveukahlil that is my concern and i wanna be one to lol but i dont think of that and if u love babies u would take care of them like if they were ur own dont worry about that :)
Respiratory therapists maintain the airway, make changes on the vent, read and run the blood gases, we make sure that the tube is secure, we suction them etc...she forgot to mention us.
There are a lot of countries around the world (I think Australia is one of them) that don´t use respiratory therapists. The work is usually done by the nurses instead ....
May God bless this kind and sweet nurse and other nurses who are kind and sweet with the best for a happy and bright future, this is the kind of nurse, babies are blessed to care for them and the kind of nurse who offers comfort and supportive words and a kind and welcoming attitude to the parents who are facing a very stressful rollercoaster ride in the NICU. Well done sweet nurse, God Bless you. You are worthy of praise, you Angel
She looked at me and spoke to me as if I was selfish for being there, now I have to live with the fact that others mostly nurses have told me and a nurses attitude would be to tell me they think I was selfish for wanting to see my baby or ask to hold her acting like I would only stop my baby from getting well by getting in the way of the nurse with my baby..
I only wish I had a nice nurse with an attitude like this nurse in the video. My baby was never critical and was never a NICU baby but a NNU baby, the nurse made me feel bad about visiting her on her night of birth, she made it look like I was going to touch her without her approval when that was not my desire, and asking to hold her annoyed her,
This video would be a great way to introduce new grads to the overview of neonatal nursing. Thank you for a nicely done video. (a NICU RN and mother of 4)
Womens and Childrens Hospital in Adelaide have a highly advanced NICU and SCU Womens and Childrens Hospital in Adelaide are kind and helpful staff to the parents during the stressful time of there baby/babies being sick at birth they saved Hunter and Darcy 22 week twins there video is on youtube
She is a wonderful nurse truly an angel look at how sweet and kind and compassionate her caring ways are with the babies and families. Her manner in which she talks is calm sweet and comforting to the parents! Instead of a daily rotation of registered nurses in a neonatal unit admissiom area where my baby stayed without the need fr intensive care wish this lady had been my daughter Lilikes nurse the whole time or Jenny and Nikki!
It's interesting to see an Australian NICU...although I just cannot stand the idea that this nurse is handling a 24 weeker WITHOUT GLOVES. She is literally putting this infant's LIFE at risk!
thanks are u a nurse in neo natel intencive care or in the normal hospital
my mum doesnt want to go to the baby ward cuz she rekons babys shouldnt get sick cuz there too young and havent had a chance at life but adults shes good with cuz she works at a aged care home at the moment
too much sadness in the baby ward but still happiness but she doesnt like to see babys or kids sick :)
Wish Nikki and Jenny got to be Lilikes only nurses for the whole entire 9 days she was in hospital, we had a rotation of different nurses we did not get to know. Nikki and Jenny were wonderful with my baby and wonderful to talk to. They are the best nurses in the NNU where Lilike stayed!
I really liked this video, I'm about to start my new nursing graduate program here in Sydney. Looking into having one of my rotations in neonatal intensive care. :)
Very nice video. I'm grandmother to twins delivered by cesarean at 29 weeks following placental surgery in Kirkland Washington USA at about 24 weeks for twin to twin transfusion syndrome. They were 2 lbs 8 oz and 2 lbs 10 oz at birth. The NICU scene looks familiar to what was seen here but the nurse in the video looks very comfortable with what she is doing, confident and experienced. We need more nurses like that!
Wow- What an amazing story. It's amazing the babies get better so quickly hey, given how small they are.
THis NICU is now closed. They built a brand new one at a new location and we are hoping to film in there soon.
Nurse TV has been defunded this week due to the financial crisis- our major sponsor no longer feels it is important but we have our last series to produce and are hoping to do another NICU story

BE KIND TO DOCTORS...
Without us, you would die regardless of whether the nurse was there or not.
Snarkiness aside, I don't understand why doctors and nurses need to bash each other. Let's all work together and give each other respect.

I hope so. The risk of infection is too high to risk with a 680 gram baby!!
If she were the nurse of my baby, I'd make her wear gloves, this coming from a level 4 NICU nurse, promoting the best care for micro preemies.
