It needs to be hands free... what will revolutionize AR is affordable, wearable , comfortable displays.

Basically glasses with gesture recognition ability.

Then you could play MW2 with your friends with your own backyard as the map.

There's a very cool iPhone app called Satellite Augmented Reality. It has a database of over 370 geo sats and lets you view where they are in the sky. It also calculates the azimuth and elevation angles for you based on your location. In addition, it lets you enter a virtual location in order to see what the satellite view would be in, say China, if you are in the US.

in the future, things might be there and we won't even know it unless we have a device with augmented reality applications. it'll be much better graphics though and video games might be enabled with this.
