  • Huh. I was right. Sam Fisher is Batman.

  • balls nasty

  • Thumbs if you're going to pretend this takes place years after The Dark Knight Rises movie.

Also The Dark Knight Returns is being turned into an animated feature this year.

    Batman Begins= Fear

    The Dark Knight = Chaos

    The Dark Knight Rises= Escalation

The Dark Knight Returns= Dystopia/ Oppression

  • @FictionFanboy I Don't mean to be a buzzkill but there's a few reasons why This doesn't take place after the Dark knight rises:

    1. This book has Two-face in it, Two-Face died at the end of The Dark knight.

    2. The existance of three Robins in TDKR, The Nolan film series had no Robins.

and 3. Bruce dosen't know who killed his parents in TDKR, He clearly knew who did it

in Batman Begins because he was going to kill Joe Chill.

so you probably didn't read the comic or?

  • @Jamesnostalgiakid

I guess you didn't understand the term "PRETEND IT TAKES PLACE YEARS AFTER TDKR". Yes I've read the comic and I am very aware of how it goes, TDKR is still very early in Batmans career so yeah....

  • @FictionFanboy Well i guess you COULD pretend if you really want to, I didn't mean to offend you.

  • HOLY SHIT!! Is Batman being voiced by Michael Ironside?!?!? Like Darkseid?!?!

  • Should be nice to see this compared to the movie this year, and those who call him fatman, read the comicbook!

  • Is this from an actual movie or just a short cartoon. If it is just a short, when and how did it premire?

  • @pacman5698 it's from the batman tas episode "Legends of the dark knight."

  • if tht was real batman wudd pwn him upp badly

  • this is awesome.

  • wow meacal ornside make more awesome

  • Nasty. Balls nasty.

  • this batman was too much of a brute to be an old batman not to mention his humongous size. and the usage of a tank and even using guns? fuck this book was too much. but thats the dark genre for yah, always depressing to the point it makes you wanna stop reading but you continue anyway. if anything the prologue of batman beyond got it just right.

  • @EclipseHedgehog GTFO the dark knight returns is one of the best batman graphic novels ever. Depressing??? how is the book depressing, this is the BEST version of older batman, heck batman period. Maybe you should actually read it before bashing it.

oh and one more thing "Rubber bullets......honest"

  • @Blballerboy calm down son.

  • @EclipseHedgehog check and mate

  • @Blballerboy um ok?

  • Comment removed

  • What episode is this? and it sounds like Bamtan Beyond! :D

  • It's Michael Ironside that played Batman in this! He does a lot of things but he also played Darkseid in Superman and Justice League.

  • Michael Ironside? Sam Fisher as Batman? Now I know why Sam Fisher operates so well in the dark.

  • So BTAS Cast and Bruce Timm are making a two part movie for this....ABOUT FUCKIN TIME!

  • @DktorChoas Like all Batfans i worship Kevin Conroy, but I want Ironside as batman for that!!!!

  • @wiseass2147 personally i'd prefer Ironside as well, or Ron Perlman as i read the comic in his voice

  • that comic is epic

  • Comment removed

  • This fight actually different from the comic. In the comic, Batman loses to the Mutant leader. But after meeting Robin and having a costume change (from his Blue cape & cowl to the one seen here) he wins.

    ...

    Still a great scene though.

  • 5:07

    Felt that... ouch.

  • one of the worst batman movies ever and the other one was batman and robin the one were george clooney was playing batman christian bail should play bat man 4 ever and Kevin conroy should voice batman for ever

  • I never really liked Dark Knight returns. The representation of Batman's muscle was just unfitting, especially given his age. He looked like "retard strength" Batman to me. Though it does seem that it is part of what would become the influence to Batman beyond, so I respect it's existence in this case. I also respect it's usage of joker's mentality and effects on batman. Other than that, Meh.

  • @Mamoru0Hasukage I feel the same. I prefer a distillation of Batman where he's willpower personified (which includes real versions of esoteric Eastern abilities), incredibly smart (in terms of knowledge & problem-solving ingenuity), has to deal with seeming like a badguy, but has a very strict moral code that he never breaks (even though he's always tempted to) & is basically a ninja. He's too clever, skilled, determined & well-prepared (in believable ways) to lose, even though he's out-classed.

  • I feel much of the same. It is that the frank miller batman steps far to out of bounds with what batman represents. That being: a man who is so troubled by his past, he can not get over it. He copes by parading around as a vigilante in a bat costume, defending the city he resides in from the outlaws that inhabit it. Batman is a character who uses all he can to prevent anyone from feeling what he feels 100% of the time: remorse, guilt and pain that will never go away.

  • @Mamoru0Hasukage Yeah, Batman feeling lousy at least nearly all the time is an important part of him. Taking that away takes away his motivation for being as formidable as he is. If he ever tells someone to not wish to be like him, he's saying it out of kindness. Most of top people throughout history have been messed up (Nikola Tesla, Howard Hughes, Confucius, Einstein) & the only one who I can think of who (I think) wasn't was George Washington Carver (who was extremely heroic & brilliant).

  • Indeed. Batman is a character who channels his sorrows and madness towards those who do wrong. He has a twisted sense of justice, but that is why, as a fan base, we love him. It is not the abilities that make the character, it is the character who uses the abilities I love.

  • @Mamoru0Hasukage Bats takes what would break many people and uses it to make him stronger, much like the mythological Heracles and the real-life Teddy Roosevelt.

  • omg i cant wait until the costume dic for arkham city comes out so i can play this

  • Michael Motherfucking Ironside makes Batman more badass!!!

  • @svedzin he made Darkseid badass too

  • @megamanxhunter Well, let's be honest, Ironside makes every character badass! :)))

  • rubber bullets sure batman whatever you say.

  • this batman was cool even though that robin was such a nerd and doesnt look like a girl AT ALL. lol

  • Micheal Ironside was perfect for the older Batman, he sounds so sadistic here. Batman also looks sadistic lmao

  • what episode is this from?

  • Goddamn Carrie Kelly was the worst part of TDKR

  • Carrie Kelly vs Mindy MacReady

  • @dude13zo he killed criminals all the time in the old comics and in the Tim Burton batman movies he killed people to

  • 12 people have no idea whats going on. and prefer shitty cinema.

  • Wow I never knew TAS did this that was spot on if the new animated movie is going to be like this wow it's gonna be sick. R rating? anybody?

  • Something tells me to stop with the leg. I don't listen to it.

  • Comment removed

  • To be honest, I would have shot the gang leader with the rubber bullets. Then again, I'm not the goddamn Batman.

  • Batman watch out for those nipples! xO

  • I'd say your faith in humanity would be a little shaken

    3. Really robin being a girl really hurt your psyche that much who cares what sex robin is batman has a partner named robin of which there have been 4 in the main comics ( 5 if u include the girl) does that bother you too people age and grow up u'd rather see a 45 year old Dick Grayson in spandex? Anyways clearly your simple mind can't fathom how revolutionary this vision of batman so y don't u just stick to ur Sunday comics so ur kinder

  • @huhmasta lemme break it down for you cause clearly your simple mind can't comprehend this intelligent piece of work.

    1. Batman is not contradicting himself he doesn't kill them he uses Rubber bullets there was an army of pissed off teens with guns with real bullets u think he just gonna run out there and take them head on at an age of at least 60 ?

    2. If you had fought the same criminals for over 40 yrs seeing them never redeem themselves always doing the same actions over and over I'd say yo

  • Holy Crap. This just got me EVEN MORE hyped about using TDKR skin on my NG+ in Arkham City.

  • I'm surprised they put something so violent in a kid's cartoon tho lol...

  • @Jdoylee811 I know right especially the last part, even if it wasn't the full monologue

  • This is awesome it's exactly like the comic!

  • batman 50 age ??????

  • Comment removed

  • @ 0:54 did he say, "They think we are gay..."?

  • @RandomKidddo

    "They think we a gang."

  • PLZ COME BACK AND DO TDKR ANIMATED MOVIE MICHAEL, YOUR VOICE IS ICONIC!!

  • You guys are kinda right.....Wait no your not Dark Knight Strikes Again is shit The art was fucking terrible and Miller turned Wonderwoman into wonderwhore......and I dont care about your whole phychologiacl its okay to kill when yada yada yada morals whatever bullshit BATMAN DOESN'T KILL PEOPLE!!!!!oh and All*Star Batman and Robin was even more of a massive heep of shit.

  • Miller was good but now hes a jackass.

  • I know this is a great stroy but I just dont like how Batmans drawn. Did he get inundated with gamma rays or something?

  • I WANNA HEAR Bruce Greenwood, Rino Romano, Will Friedle & Kevin Conroy's Voices in upcoming DCU Batman animated movies

  • SAM MOTHER FUCKING FISHER

  • This is my faveorite part from DKR

  • Absolutely greatest thing I have ever read. So entertaining and awesome! I know many have negative things to say about DKSA but I'm still going to buy it and enjoy it, well try to anyway

  • Holy shit is that Michael Ironside as Batman?

  • @AliminiumHydroxide Yes indeedy, and Frank Welker voicing Rob and Don! Does it get much cooler?

  • That book was awesome to bad Frank Miller turned into a perverted old nut job with terrible taste.

  • @dude13zo I love the book but I fucking hate Frank Miller.

  • @dude13zo

    Holy shit, we get it.

You really don't need to make three different posts to get your shitty point across...

  • "And that's what Batman's really like." Damn straight, yo.

  • The voice of batman seriously reminds me of Brock samson from Venture bros

  • leader dusted

  • FAT BATMAN!

  • Batman is balls nasty. He dont shiv.

  • 10 dislikes - Kids these days..no respect.

  • @CBright7831 "They don't even wait for the order."

  • @Huhmasta Actually, those were rubber bullets he shot them with.

  • Greatest version of Batman ever. It's realistic, gritty, and down right nasty. I love it.

  • Something tells me this is bat country.

  • I just hope with the announced TDKR animated movie coming out that DC gets Michael Ironside to voice Batman. He was absolutely perfect for this version of Bats.

  • @alucard624 You are absolutely right. I was just thinking the same thing. Aw man, that would be sick!

  • @alucard624 Or Clint Eastwood ;)

  • @alucard624 I don't know. I think Kevin Conroy should do it. He voiced Batman in The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and a lot of other things. In fact, he's portrayed Batman more than Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kimler, George Clooney, and Christian Bale all put together.

  • @sgauden02 how about Bruce Greenwood as Batman?

  • @creedjeremy You mean in a live-action move? Or the upcoming animated?

  • @sgauden02 cuz he did a damn good job as Bats in Under the Red Hood

  • @creedjeremy Very true. If we couldn't get Kevin Conroy, he'd be my next choice.

  • @sgauden02 what about the Joker? if Mark wouldn't be doing his voice anymore, who would u choose? certainly not the one from YJ

  • @creedjeremy You realize Mark Hammil has said he is done doing the batman voice, for anything again.

  • @SiskoCanLiveWithIt actually Mark voices the Joker not Batman

  • @creedjeremy animated

  • @alucard624 I KNOW! There really is no substitute for Ironside

  • So there's a few dozen bad guys with machine guns firing hundreds of rounds at them, and she jumps out of the safety of a freaking tank to SHOOT AT THEM WITH A SLINGSHOT. What the bloody hell? No matter the incarnation, Robin sucks truckloads of ass.

  • @melosebrainuhoh my thoughts exactly

  • Robin using a slingshot....now that's just insulting

  • Im sorry but Frank Miller's work in The Dark Knight Returns was just...bad. I didin't enjoy it at all, the comic was terribly drawn, like some sort of shitty kindergarden water colored painting. Batman is portrayed as some sadistic asshole who hates all of humanity. Robin is a fucking NERDY GIRL. Batman says he doesnt kill people but almost immediately contradicts himself when he SHOOTS PEOPLE FROM HIS BAT TANK. I bought that book expecting great things and was severely disappointed.

  • @Huhmasta

    4/10 nice try.

  • @jbc429 wtf are you talking about

  • @Huhmasta It is a great twist on a classic superhero. If you don't like it then okay that's your opinion. Have you read Batman Year One though? Definitely a must buy if you haven't

  • @lilmijo619 Year One, i thought about it but then i was sort of afraid to get it after my encounter with Miller's Dark Knight Returns as well as his infamous "god damn batman" quote.

  • @Huhmasta Haha yes very infamous but IDK we are all different and I guess Miller's version attracts me. Trust me though this is Batman starting off and so he's not some mean old grumpy guy. It is very good and I recommend you buy it. The drawings and what not are also very good. You can do some research on it a bit more if you want.

  • Sam Fisher anyone

  • @AVET87 and DCAU Darkseid

  • what episode and season is this!???????????????

  • I didn't know who Frank Miller was when I saw this for the first time, as a kid I said to myself, "DAAAYYYY-MMN!!!"

  • @MrWezlum18 Same here. Didn't know anything about the Dark Knight Returns before watching this. However, after having read DKR, I loved all of the references and scenes found in this episode.

  • Batman borrowed that tank from the Imperial Guardsmen.

  • Wait, there is an animated version of The Dark Knights Returns?! Awesome ! What about The Dark Knight Strikes Again?

  • @KingTeDdY62 Oh don't bother to answer I just saw the end of the video ! XD

  • @KingTeDdY62 Who cares? DK2 sucks.

  • @MrWezlum18 That's your opinion. Me, I really like DK2.

  • @KingTeDdY62 Agreed. Dark Knight Strikes Again is a brilliant book. Year One's great too

  • @Greenless001 Strikes again is shit......the art sucked and bats turned into a egotistic asshole who killed Dick Grayson.

But All-Star Batman and Robin was even Batman kidnaps and abuses Dick Grayson and calls hal jordan a idiot.

  • @dude13zo In Strikes Again, Dick Grayson was a psychopath who murdered several superheroes and tortured Carrie Kelly. Of course Batman would have killed him! And if you're going to bring up the point that "Batman doesn't kill" You should think about the psychological profile of Batman. He would be willing to kill. Don't believe me? Look at Rorschach from Watchmen. Alan Moore based Rorschach on Batman, the revenge-fueled hero archetype.

Also, what makes Miller's Batman egotistical?

  • @alexweir1 Wow......thats all bullshit.

  • Comment removed

  • @dude13zo

    watch?v=qKebCtCTbCA

    Around the 3 minute mark.

  • @alexweir1 Rorschach isn't based on Batman. Night Owl was. Try getting your facts straight before you make yourself look stupid Mate

  • @BrandonGotBack89 : Perhaps not his design, but his character's motives and mentality reflects the gritty "realism" that Dark Knight Returns introduced in the 80's and early 90's in superhero comics..

  • @BrandonGotBack89

That is such a superficial assessment. Yes, Night Owl has the look and certainly the technological approach to superheroism. But in personality, Rorschach and Batman are one in the same. I'll give you the video again, showing you what I'm talking about. 3 Minute mark.

    watch?v=qKebCtCTbCA

  • @alexweir1 Actually Rorschach was taken from Steve Ditko's two characters The Question & Mr A,

Batman doesn't quite have the same Randian outlook on life IMO, but sure they're both obsessed

(or psychotic depending on your P.O.V) vigilantes.

  • @alexweir1

Naaah, Rorschach is a much more extreme version of Batman. Batman might be a bit more unhinged in TDKR, but he still draws the line at killing, i.e. "Rubber bullets. Honest."

  • @BrandonGotBack89

Rorschach is a hypertrophic take on the Batman archetype, who was himself based on The Shadow. See Philip Davis' essay "Watchmen, Neo-Noir, and Pastiche", in Gray's book "The 21st Century Superhero."

Night Owl is based on Blue Beetle. Moore, in an interview with Jon B Cooke, says "Nite-Owl and the new Blue Beetle—well, the Ted Kord Blue Beetle—were equivalent." See Comic Book Artist. August 2000.

Then get YOUR facts straight, Mate.

  • @calvintoronto Ted Cord is based on Bruce Wayne, so you just proved my argument for me. Nice job. :]

  • @calvintoronto

...And, as in most such cases, the original prototype, the Shadow, is the most interesting of the lot.

  • @felixjazzage

    Totally agree!!!

  • @KingTeDdY62 No, there isnt. But they are making a TDKR animated movie after Justice League Doom. This clip was from Batman The Animated Series.

  • @TheAlexLynch97 batman tas i think not.

  • @TheAlexLynch97 I cant wait for it wean the movie of TDKR comes

  • What episode is this and what season of the show is it

  • So THIS is what'd happen if Darkseid became Batman... for some reason.

    Awesome!

  • lol robin uses a sling shot.

  • That was freakin' brilliant, that's why you gotta love old toons like this these days.

  • My name is Sam Fisher and i'm Batman!

  • Chong cameo makes this twice as sweet.

  • The BAT-TANK

  • Comment removed

  • If only the rest of season 4 was this good. :C

  • Those nipples look like they can cut glass.

  • Now there will be an animated movie of Miller's Dark Knight Returns via DC, Maybe Kevin Conroy, Rino Romano, Will Friedle, Bruce Greenwood And Michael Ironside will be in it.

  • Balls nasty! Slicer dicer chicken legs!

  • How can they top this in the animated DTV film?

  • Having to choose either Michael Ironside or Kevin Conroy as being the best Batman is a real tough call.

  • @Archangel101576 I think Michael Ironside's voice fits perfectly with Dark Knight Return's version. Both great though

  • ballsnasty

  • batman don't shiv

  • I am a heterosexual man, very well into women, but I woul deffinitely have sex with Michael Ironside's voice if it was physically possible.

  • @Ph3L1z14n0 You are not alone.

  • my name is sam fisher... i mean, im batman!

  • Probably the only good thing to come out of New Batman Adventures.

  • This is amazing. I have fucking tears in my eyes.

  • IS THAT MICHAEL IRONSIDE

  • @Foggen That is Michael Ironside. That's the voice of *Darkseid*. That's how awesome this clip is.

  • @RTacular That man made a career of TOTAL hardasses, man!

I HATED him in Free Willy.

  • According to Bleedingcooldotcom an animated Batman The Dark Knight Year One film and an animated Batman TDKR film are both in the works.

  • 5:18

    My reaction too.

  • I'm pretty sure this is goddamn amazing.

  • I love how the music is similar to what's using in other Frank Miller adaptations like Sin City & 300.

  • **SPOILER**

For those that haven't read the book it portrayed the fight scene very well however I believe batman was beaten on the first fight and Robin helped him. The second batman beat him with the finishing line "This is not a trash heap, its an operating table" "And I'm the surgeon"

  • @kylelifecast Add that to the fact that Batman kicked the Mutant leader's ass in round two worse than Mutant leader kicked his in the first. To quote the Caped Crusader himself: "My mistake was to try and match his savagery. To fight like a young man." It shows that while the Mutant leader has strength, Batman has much greater experience; the Mutant leader has youth and speed on his side, but Batman has cunning.

  • Mutant Leader: I will gouge out batman's eyes with my razor-sharp nipples!

  • Holy shit, this is awesome!

Fuck, I need to watch this show.

  • my only question is this how do we go from this batman to the gay ass batman in brave and the bold?

  • @xiaoxiaocl Brave and the Bold is meant to a retro tongue in cheek show.

  • @xiaoxiaocl Batman: The Brave and the Bold is an amazing show.

  • Anyone have the whole episode up???

  • i just read dkr and still cant understand why people love it so much
