  • this is the 1st song that made me go yes music is not all bored after all

  • No punk came before New Wave. As punk was sizzly out and getting stuck in a musical cul-de-sac, the New Wave boys who had originally been inspired to form bands because of Punk, were looking for new musical ideas and branched out beyond Punks original ethos.

  • edwyn collins' favourite song ;)

  • What year was this?

  • @Jt03z 1976

  • how the fck did they mange to change key for 4 bars up a semitone to F for the chorus then back to E and make it work!!!?? ace!

  • @rhysy io love green day and i also like this song and this group ^^

  • RIP Martin.

  • Punk is whatever you think it is there is no point in explaining it

  • Richard Hell, Iggy Pop, ect ect...

  • normaly i'm bored

  • my future aint what it was.....well i think i know the words that i mean.

  • Greatest guitar solo of all time.

  • "buzzcocks". Epic.

  • isn't that the intro of fast cars too?

  • it was a great time to be alive and 17 then, wish I could do it over again!

  • Punk rock was never meant to replace anything. Who the fuck would bother replacing Boston? Christ.

  • 47 years old my feet can't stop and i get gooseflesh!

  • you know the scene, very humdrum, was it ever thus?

  • This makes a bored 48 year old feel like a pogoing full of it 16 year old again.........mucho gracias 4 posting ;-]

  • one of Johnny Marr's favorite punk songs

  • one of Johnny Marr's favorite punk songs

  • I <3 Punk

  • Who you tryin' to arouse? Get your hand out of my trousers!

  • I say what comes to my mind.....

  • Myself - I'm not too much into punk music, but i do like the Buzzcocks. I'm more into bands like Pink Floyd, Boston, etc... the stuff punk tried to replace. However, for whatever reason I'm into the Buzzcocks. Good stuff.

  • @dudestr5552 Johnny Rotten never really *hated* Pink Floyd.

  • well then you should try listening to some good punk. not that pussy shit they call punk nowadays.

  • @TheChirico77 What do you think brought me here?

  • @dudestr5552 Tried to replace? TOTALLY REPLACED, EXCEEDED AND LEFT BEHIND! Long live punk!

  • @dudestr5552 punk tried to replace boston? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • @dudestr5552 Punk didn't try to replace Pink Floyd or Boston...Punk tried to replace New Wave. If you really get down to it metal tried to replace that music...For example Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Iron Maiden,Led Zepplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd,Kiss,Judas Priest, Hell Jethro Tull Started in '67 And was the first one to recieve a heavy metal grammy...If anything metal was trying to replace Pink Floyd, Boston and etc.

  • @littlebrittle1128 Thanks for the info. Admittedly I don't know very much at all about punk music, as it's not really my niche. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

  • @littlebrittle1128 Actually punk was trying to replace that old classic rock and prog rock sound (eg Pink floyd and Boston),hence Johnny Rotten's I hate Pink Floyd t shirt. I don't know what you mean by New wave, but that's generally used to describe a type of music that came after punk, and was actually somewhat influenced by it.

  • Ba-dum-Ba-dum........

  • I think it's three notes. Best tune ever recorded....FACT. I crowdsurfed for the first time to this tune. At the age of 37. Haahahaahaaaa.....

  • Where did the last two notes get to? That hurts, that does!

  • Who are the five cunts who dislike this?

  • One of the best guitar solos ever.

  • I typed in boredom and this is the 1st thing that came up... um wow all i can say is not my type of music... i listen to motionless and white... good band btw :D well yall keep listening to your music i'm not gonna bash on it

  • @BleepBloopGurl well thank you for being respectful

  • @DuckReconMajor Anytime! Cuz i hate when people bash on my music so yea haha

  • @BleepBloopGurl haha see im the same way though but i can go from motionless and white to this from escape the fate to the ramones thats just how my music library is haha

  • @22rawrrawr Haha I personally don't really like this music... I'm basically all like Metal, Heavy Metal, a little Death Core, rock, popish rock (sometimes)... this... nah haha but hey everyone bashes on my music so i won't bash on this (:

  • @BleepBloopGurl haha yeah im really into that shit to but mostly punk and grunge

  • @22rawrrawr I've never really heard of grunge haha I'm gonna look it up any good bands you know of that i could look up?

  • @BleepBloopGurl dude nirvana soundgarden old school pearl jam that kinda shit screaming trees good shit mudhoney

  • @22rawrrawr I looked some of them up ehh not my type of music but again I ain't hating haha some guys in my classes were hating on me at lunch because I listen to screamo and heavy metal, well they were saying the guys who sing it are fags, and its gay music and it sucks and it makes them want to vomit, i was so pissed off haha

  • where`s times up?

  • See the Buzzcocks last night in Leicester . Great gig..

  • shitttt fuckn greatt muzic

  • @wackyraces09 Punk didn't really 'mutate' into heavy metal. When punk first came about, early metal bands such as zeppelin and sabbath were forced to bolster their sound in response to punk's aggression. This transformation was successfully realized with NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Motorhead. With the birth of thrash metal bands like Metallica, Megadeth, anthrax, and slayer, metal heads began adopting punk looks and rhythms.

  • I often think the Times Up bootleg was the absolute best punk album as well as being one of the first (at least as far as the recording date goes). Devoto and the Buzzcocks were great.

  • Ah, to be young again...

  • Thumbs up if you typed in boredom because you were bored and clicked this!

  • erm theres 3 notes in there

  • Boredom, Boredom, badam badam :D

  • Saw them 3 times when I was a nipper, fuckin' awesome, in the true sense of the word

  • i just searched boredom with google :)

  • AWWW what a great band. One of my favorites. I dont care if people my age say this isn't punk . Deaf people with really bad musical taste wouldn't know what good music is anyways.

  • great song

  • Boredom,,,,,,,,,

  • Still the best, I got the 76 vinyl too :)

  • boredom

  • fast cars,fast cars i hate fast cars 0:00

  • classic!

  • The Velvet Underground-The Stooges-Patti Smith-The Neon Boys-Television-The Heartbreakers-The Voidoids-Sex Pistols-The Clash- The Buzzcocks-Joy Division...

  • @ZiggyPeterLewis GG, you listed two punk bands and a load of other shit.

And no, I'm not including the pistols in those two.

  • @NeutralAtJSP The Voidoids et The Heartbreakers are American Punk, real Punk

Pistol, Clash and Buzzcocks are a different kind, but still good music...

I was just making an chronological list that comes from the Velvet to Joy Division

  • @ZiggyPeterLewis

ok not only have i never head of those bands they are probably nazi punk or something and american punk is shit because its from america

  • @UTFRG How old are you? You sound like a 10-year old or something. Those bands aren't 'nazi punk' at all, and the British bands were all influenced by these American punk bands...

  • @ZiggyPeterLewis patti smith is boring

  • @UTFRG

Listen, I'm not a prophet, and someone who says loving Punk and who doesn't know anything about Thunders, Richard Hell and all that makes PUNK and that McLaren brought to England and that Buzzcocks and Pistols created from, well just makes me laugh, but as Lester Bangs said boy, I just let piss... because discuss with someone who could something as silly as "american punk is shit because its from america" has just prove the level of intelligence of all that blabla thing

  • @UTFRG She's not boring.

  • @GelGsound I'm afraid she is lol

  • B'dum B'dum.

  • BA DUM DA DUM!!!!!!!!!!

  • punk was a reaction to political opression & the charts being full of abba pink floyd & paper lace! it was all inspired by richard hell, check out blank generation, almost as good a piece of existential poetry as this one!

  • @scobiedog1 I think a better piece to read would be John Lydon's autobiography - very enlightening.

  • @scobiedog1

almost? i dont even know what to say to that. shame on you haha

  • @scobiedog1 have you watched BBC's "7 GENARATIONS OF ROCK" ? xD

  • @scobiedog1 Dude, saying punk was ¨all inspired¨ by Richard Hell might not be completely accurate...

  • @MrCitrusfrugt ok, i see your point, let's just say blank generation was a seed then.

  • @scobiedog1 Yes, one of the many ;)

  • @scobiedog1 not all of it mate, some, but not all of punk

  • Wish I was alive in that time

  • Comment removed

  • @arcicaa

yeah!!!! the 70´s was the time when everything about punk started!!!

    Tony

  • @cjwidnesgafa from what i see ur only 19 so.. o_O

  • This is what makes kids start listening to punk :-)

  • Devo-to is 58! Cool. Seeing as he would have been 13 in 65, I wonder if he got to see some good 60's bands?

  • Greatest guitar solo ever.

  • to all u wise anarchists fromthat golden era, i'm a little baba born in '96 so i'm doing my homework, jst acted a scene from a punk play, teacher hates the fact i know more than her...

  • ye ye if you like the Buzzcocks check out Devoto's later project Magazine. They have a bomb song called Shot from both sides

  • @gingerknighitis i love magazine

  • @gingerknighitis

Its a great song but the music is written by Pete Shelley, Lipstick b side of Promises.

  • @cityzen78

No doubt! I just mean that Devoto is also in Magazine and it's a wicked band. Unrelated to that statement one of my fav songs by Magazine is shot by both sides. (Apparently Pete wrote it after a political argument with his girlfriend when she said "you'll just end up shot by both sides.")

  • B'dum B'dum

  • Fuck Ya! I'm glad I stumbled across these guys, good shit!

  • Howard Devoto was the perfect punk singer, just was in a couple of songs with Buzzcocks ( I think, just this EP, if someone knows about more.. tell me ). Magazine were amazing too, and very underrated still, but that teenage cockieness was really cool.

And yes, the riff and the solo are awesome. I used to play them when I was a kid, so easy and wonderful. This music is pure fun.

  • @franziskore You should check out the Time's Up album which was recorded in Manchester in October 1976 with Devoto still on vocals

  • lol @ the solo... that last note really made it

  • just listen to the riff mmmm... yummy punk

  • Best guitar solo ever!

  • Classic. I particurlarly like the anti guitar solo. Punk rock.

  • Was just all There !!

  • ME CAGO EN ESTA PUTA SOCIEDAD Y EN LA FALSEDAD DE LOS PODEROSOS. PERO MAS ME CAGO AUN EN LOS MERCADOS FINANCIEROS, QUE NI LOS "GOBIER NOS SON CAPACES DE PONERLES EN SU SITIO. ES MAS CUANDO EMPEZO LA CRISIS, TODOS LOS BANCOS PEDIAN MASSSSSSSS, Y AHORA QUE PASA QUE HAY BENEFICIOS Y PARA QUIEN, PARA LOS HHHHHHHIIIIIIIIJJJJOOOOOS DE PUTA COMO NNNNNNNUUUUUNNNNCAAAAAA.

ME DAN GANAS DE NO VOLVER A TRABAJAR Y ROBAR A CARA DESCUBIERTA, QUE AUN PILLANDOME, ME DAN DE COMER EN LA CARCEL.

  • @TheFelixtrivi Patético, típico pseudo punk de mercado. Mejor ponte a leer.

  • solo is the best part

  • Breakdown is so much better than this

  • @fatriff No it is not! Boredom is the essence. Like cheeese with noodles. Like wine xwith pizza. Like sex with girls.

  • my favorite Buzzcocks song!

  • darumm darumm! cant remember this song not being in my life. x

  • Amazing!

  • He sounds like a screaming aids monkey

  • @philquinton which is not necessarily a bad thing.

  • @philquinton & you know this how?

  • @scobiedog1 How can i ..know.. an opinion?

  • Great song

  • Nice 2-note solo. Classic.

  • @BrucknerMotet 3-notes; don't forget the B flat at the end!

  • does anyone remember garth davies [bass],he lived at the end of my street,i was only a kid at the time????

  • @tyldesleytiger thought he was called garth smith!? anyway, there's a bootleg album called razor cuts which has some live stuff including garth going off his nut on stage threatening to take on the whole crowd at a gig at leeds. that's why they kicked him out...apparently,.

  • great song pure punk ,got the original single.

  • This is a Perfect Example of DIY The Buzzcocks Released it off their own Lable new Hormones DIY Punk and Pure Punk Rock

  • ive still got the original in my loft

  • this is when punk was good

  • @spizznightelf as i get older i would consider this more mod punk, wouldnt you think so just look at the jam, the cigaretts same as the buzzcocks maybe a faster rock steady or a just post mod from the 70's mod revival.

  • @spizznightelf u act like punk is bad nwo

  • @spizznightelf You're just to ignorant to notice that punk is still around, it's not not mainstream.

  • @Pasalaqcua you both have points but i mean there arent that many good modern punk bands most called punk are nazi sounding even if they arent

  • @UTFRG Modern punk is a bit dodgy i don't crae for it too much.

  • @GelGsound depends on the band really but the old stuff is generally better
