  • Luke, however, (although having the Force w/ him) was neither a Padawan nor (obviously) a Jedi. He was essentially an inexperienced young man who just happen to obtain a lightsaber that his father once owned, and using it against someone who was, in fact, a more experienced lightsaber user. As an audience, you can feel his fear and his inexperience dueling against Vader as you watch him heightening the intense duel, which makes it more of the better choice for being the #1

  • My reason: Even though in Episode VI Luke Skywalker wasn't considered a Jedi yet until he defeated Darth Vader (as stated by the dying words of Yoda, [which eventually Luke becomes one after defeating Vader]), he DEFINITELY wasn't a Jedi yet in Episode V. Heck, he wasn't even considered (despite the lack of using the technical term in the original trilogy) a Padawan. At least young Obi-Wan was when he battled it out w/ Darth Maul, plus he'd been training to become a Jedi for many years

  • You know, I really agree w/ your Top 5 lightsaber battles. An honorable mention could have been Yoda in one of his battles because we never saw him battle it out w/ his lightsaber to anyone. Sure, the CGIs were a bit much w/ his fights, but it was fun to watch. Mace Windu and Darth Sidious could also have been one as well. Although I agree w/ your explanation as to why you picked Episode VI as your #1, in my humble opinion, #2 and #1 should be swapped.

  • My top 3:

3: Yoda Vs Sidious Episode 3

2:Qui-Gonn and Obiwan vs Darth Maul Episode 1

1: Anakin Vs Obiwan Episode 3

    :)

  • Okay. The duel on Mustafar wasn't too long. You claim to like long duels.

  • Defintitely agree with number one, the music combined with the fight was amazing. I was wondering if I was the only one who thought this saber fight was the best.

  • Good list. I'm right with you when you said about Battle of Heroes' placement being generous. To me that fight represents all that can be good AND bad for a lightsaber fight.

    My list goes:

    5 - Obi-Wan vs Vader (Ep. IV)

4 - Anakin vs Dooku (Ep. III)

3 - Luke vs Vader (Ep. VI)

2 - Duel of the Fates

    1 - Luke vs Vader (Ep. V)

All scenes involving Yoda and Sidious with sabers are horrible and drag the PT down terribly.

  • @Owdene Well I did like the duel in Episode II between Dooku and Yoda. However, I didn't need to see Yoda fight in Sidiious in Episode III. Sometimes once is enough. They should have stuck with the Wizard's duel that happened between them, and that fight didn't need to be as long either.

  • @thecrusadingknight You should have included as like an honorale mention -- Yoda vs. Count Dooku from Ep. II.

  • @Retrofan That one was definitely a contender. LMAO the whole time I watched that.

  • your voice made me a headick!

  • excellent video my friend. i'm pleasantly surprised

  • 5 final fight between Obi wan and Vader 4 Final fight between Luke and Vader 3 dual of fates 2 Battle of Hero's 1 First fight between Luke and Vader however 2 and 1 tend to switch back and forth because they are great fights

  • I agree that it is a hard choice of 1 and 2 with the two Luke vs Vader fights. But I always end up liking the one in Jedi better for the reasons I stated.

  • I would the dual of fates to at least 3 when you told us that you put it there because the movie wasnt up to par with the rest of the star wars movies which is true however we arent rating the movies but he fight it self which is pretty awesome as for the battle of hero's fight i would have moved it up higher on the list true its long but you also have to remember it's two fights obi wan vs anakin and Yoda vs Sideous which cuts the fight time for it i would move this up to 2 and move 1 to 4

  • When I said that the earlier movies were better, I didn't mean to sound like I judged the fights based on that.

What really makes for a great fight other than cool moves and fast speed, is personal conflict between characters. Darth Maul's fight had little personal conflict in it, whereas the other fights worked on both the mythical and the personal levels. For instance, Return of the Jedi was on the one hand Sith lord vs last of the Jedi, on the other hand it was father vs. son.

  • I think thecrusadingknight should make a video of best to worst star wars movie. that would be cool

  • Perhaps whenever I get back to making videos again.

  • my dad commented about the diffulculties of thet family conflict. and hearing my father hear that, it was powerful

  • i love that #1 because it had such an epic and mythological feeling with luke's rage. its awesome.

  • Agree :)

  • i loved this video and I agree with the placement of all the videos except 1. I think you should have took off the final battle of Vader and Obi wan. Only because the fight between yoda and sidious was so integral to the saga. Besides being awesome it determined the fate of the galaxy. It should have at least gotten a special mention

  • At one time I think I was going to include the Yoda/Sidious fight as part of the final fight in Episode 3. It was an important event as it put the Jedi master vs the Sith master. Though I actually liked that fight better when it was a wizard's duel instead of a lightsaber battle.

As I said, the Obi Wan and Vader fight wasn't a great fight in and of itself, but it lead to a shocking moment in the story, and a character defining moment for Luke.

  • I see where your coming from because it was a mixture of lightsaber duel and force wizadry. Still an awesome list. BTW, I am obsessed with "duel of the fates". I have that song on my phone and listen to it once a day everyday. I think that song is about the duel of fates regarding darth Mual and Anakin. I believe had Maul defeated Obi-Wan he would've became dark lord and Anakin would've defeated him in the future as a jedi thus embracing his destiny. No 1 agrees with me tell me wat u think

  • No, if Obi Wan died, who would have trained Anakin? All the other Jedi said it was a bad idea.

Do love "Duel of the fates" though

  • so say we all to the last sentence....

  • cool video. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars!! one of my favorite lightsabor battle was from The Force Unleashed where the Secret Apprentice fought Darth Vader.

  • Another good vid from The Crusader. Opening certainly put a smile on my face. Nice one!

  • I was hoping that opening would catch on.

  • the best pick on the #1 that was the best and is epic because of the emotion on the characters. Great vid love star wars to death.

  • Thanks. Not only is that my favorite Star Wars fight scene, that is actually my favorite Star Wars movie.
