  • So I tried WS 0.57 today I found the new GUI isn't as easy and smooth as the one in your video. Also some features are missing now. Or am I missing something. Anyway, keep up the good work guys :)

  • @greob Best way to get this to the developer is to join his Facebook group "webcamstudio". I'd link to it her, but YT isn't allowing it. The good news is that it's still in beta, so the UI is going to change a lot and frequently. So this is a good opportunity to pass along ideas in the FB group. ;)

  • I wish I knew how to code stuffs and help with this project... Still have a lot to learn about Linux though :(

    Thanks Matt!

  • YOURNAMEISMATTTOO!!!!!!!! :{}

  • How do you install Webcam Studio to Ubuntu? I am having some trouble, thanks!

  • @1mc001 You're going to need to be clear? To simply install it, you download the deb package, double click and enjoy. Not sure which part your having problems with. Specifics, tons of details help. ;)

  • @ctsdownloads Well, I don't really like the newer beta version much :/ I can install that easilly but the older versions don't like me :( and it hard to stream the whole desktop onto stickam :(

  • @1mc001 Well the good news is that the developer (Patrick) is always coming up with improvements. I'd suggest sending him feedback via the website or the mailing list there. ;)

  • @ctsdownloads Nice, thanks :)

  • Well i have the new Webcamstudio...I have livestream...WHat should i do in order to make it work? thank you

  • @kostisthepetitlog Uh, could you elaborate? You're comment is like me driving my car into the mechanic and exclaiming "it no go." What specifically isn't working, what have you tried to get it going, where is the specific failure occurring, etc? I need waaaaaay more detail that it's not working to even begin to help. ;)

  • @ctsdownloads Well i have open this pop-up window from livestream that let you record your face from your webcam you know.....And i am opening the webcamstudio at the same time...Well i dont have this version of webcam studio...I think this is the problem where can i find the 0.50 version?

  • @kostisthepetitlog If I am understanding you correctly, with your browser closed, run the app. Then and only then, the browser can be opened. I am basing this on your mention of " opening the webcamstudio at the same time".

  • Wow! nice work. Thanks.

  • did you use wcs to make this video?

  • @asymptote9x In other videos, yes. But because this now very old video was done before screen capturing was working perfectly. This was recorded with Recordmydesktop.

  • does it work with justin tv?

  • ya, java is heavy. i've got athlon64 X2 which is equivalent to dual core CPU's. i still using webcamstudio anyways :D

  • the newest version is even running sloooow on my machine, especially with that sphere effect. any idea? i've got no problem with cheese on effects, but i do have one with recording on youtube.

  • @toplesskue It's using Java and a lot of it. If you are running intensive stuff like CompizFusion, this is not helping. If you are doing this plus have less than a Intel Dual Core CPU system...it's going to be VERRRRY slow.

  • the newest version is even slooow on my machine. any idea?

  • It doesn't come up in my devices. Help!

  • @smallkill69 Can you elaborate? Version used, webcams used, etc?

Assuming you are running the latest, try running as gksudo if nothing else works. It's been tested on countless machines running Ubuntu, should be fine.

  • Oh wait now.

I got that to work off of the website.

But I do need help to be able to show my desktop fully. Like yours. I cannot figure that out. :/ Trying to stream movies.

  • man you guys saved my life thank you so much i will be doneating as soon as i can open source gods thank you also

  • Wait until you see the next version to be released. I am testing the beta now - it blows this one out of the water with features and controls. ;)

  • thank you for showing the features of the program I had been looking for an alternative to webcammax for windows for a 24/7 broadcast on an old laptop looks like ill be booting up ubuntu to try it out

  • Feel free to leave the feature request on the forums from the link to the right. ;)

  • First check out the webpage on the right for getting things work so that vloopback is working.

That's why you are seeing no output, you need to make sure you both reboot and double check whether or not you need a video group.

No saving to a video file as this is used for broadcasting. I would check out Cheese as it does most of what you describe.

  • Thanks for the reply. I tried Cheese but it didn't work very well for me and WCS looked like a much more complete project. Oh well, consider this a feature request then. :) (I assumed that it would do this based on some screenshots that I saw of earlier versions.)

  • This looks very cool. I managed to get it up and running on Jaunty and will play with it more tonight, but I have two questions:

    1. Can webcamstudio simply record the output to an audio/video file? I cannot find anything in the interface to do this. At the bottom of the window it simply says No Output.
