it only takes 5 minutes of reading to find out this whole rod thing is bullshit.

The reason we haven't seen them before is because we didnt have fancy digital cameras before. The "rod" is created by long exposure time - basically the video catches several wing beats in a frame, and the body is blurred into a solid line. Usually insects are captured in this way, i'm no expert but i think that's what we can see here.

I watched a programme on one of the educational channels about rods and they are everywhere. They are really fast so are difficult to spot with the naked eye. why do all "flying rods" fly at a speed of exactly one length per frame? me thinks it's because the limitations of the camera make a normal insect appear as a rod as it flies for a certain "length" in one frame, and does so in the next, and so on.

Its an unknown flying something, maybe biological, maybe artificial, i have some of them on my videos and i know they`re not a known insects because i do digital recording with 60 frames per second, with a canon powershot s3is, and with that frame capture rate i havent found an insect or bird or plane fast enough to leave a trail behind. So what you have there is still an unknown object, until we find it out.

This looks like a dragonfly. They are sometimes pretty fast, even too fast for a camera. The size and the length of the wings might be about the ones of a large dragonfly.
