  • There is one measure by which we will be judged by the people who come after: and that is the health of the land base. That's the only thing that matters. The only thing! They're not going to care if we're nice people. They will care that they have water to drink and that they have food to eat, and that they're not being poisoned, and that the planet hasn't gone to runaway global warming. That is what matters.

  • where do i sign up?

  • Thank you for sharing. I could probably just watch hours of footage of people showing of their own creations. Makes me dream that one day I will be able to be creative by building something like this too.

  • I liked this first earth documentary, I really did, but I have to be skeptical, if adobe/mud/cob houses are so great then why did people stop building with these materials? What are the drawbacks to buiding homes this way, there have to be some, I'm just trying to be realistic it just sounds too good to be true

  • @Usernametobechanged It's not drawbacks that made people stop building with Earth, it's industrialization. Over time, we have become more reliant on our money to carry us through our lives, and because of that, we become dependent on other people to build our homes for us, while we work.

As a result, the people who build our homes choose the cheapest materials to build with, knowing that we'll pay them to come back and repair anything in disarray. Cheaper to build, too.

  • Thank you.

  • FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC! I love it. Thanks you so much for making this.

  • that the idea that you bought a square home and paid for on it for half your life working a slave wage job is now so foreign to me i can't believe i ever subscribed to this artificial construct of 'normal'.

it's a shame we perpetuate this system and deny our creativity as we don't just buy a square box to house our 'stuff'. we put every thing about ourselves including our thinking caps in that box.

this series shows another, healthier path. props to the makers of this film and the builders.

  • Wow.. I would love to sculpt my home into manifestation!

  • A cob oven and cob bunkie are in my future I'm thinking....:)

  • New Brunswick, Canada has not yet had anyone build this way, perhaps i'll be the first. It would be fun! And no debt ? fuck yeah

  • Congratulation and Thank you very much!

  • "In the energy scarce future..." HA HA HA HA

What a small-minded, completely ridiculous, limiting thing to even THINK...let alone speak out loud...and on cameral no less. There's more solar, tidal, geothermal and "energy from the vacuum" than one can even begin to imagine (except for this simpleton, he obviously thinks all energy comes from petroleum...idiot) There ARE existing technologies from simple to complex, ready for use TODAY!

Look up WorldsNest or Earthship or shit, the list goes on

  • @csreeves Do you think you could try to conduct yourself and make your points without the derisiveness and name calling? Who is going to consider what you have to say now that you have shown such immaturity? No one.

  • @rollinshultz

To answer your questions: First...Yes, I could. And second, for your seemingly rhetorical question…I’m not concerned with who will consider what “I” have to say, I’m concerned with the truth. Tell me, who do you think will consider the truth? Could it be perhaps those who cannot obtain petroleum products any longer...or never could?

  • @csreeves Yeah that's probably the reason almost 90% of worlds energy today comes from gas, oil, coal and uranium. Do you know how much would it cost to replace all old technologies with new ones?

  • Good overview, Thanks for making it available. It gives me a few ideas for sustainability.I hope you don't mind, but I'm skipping the eco-religion montage at the end. It spikes my blood pressure:p

  • agreed. exceptional video, greatly increased my understanding, but the concept of earth building has enough merit to stand on its own without the hyperbole. all the flowery language and "profound" and "incredible" adjectives just tend to agitate me. the personal accounts of direct utility to individuals today are much more persuasive and elucidating than any global and futurist philosophizing.

  • Just absolutely amazing and truly inspiring

  • This has to be one of the best documentaries I've seen about our crazy desire to de-forest the world. I'm not a tree hugger or environmentalist but recent months have lead me to conclude the same things. I want to build one of these amazing homes.

Earthbag building is another technique worth looking at since the "rise rate" is much greater per day...Cob must set before the next layer goes on.

Walls are one thing, but roofing methods need better documentation on the internet.

  • This is an Amazing series. Thank you!

  • Excellent series! Thank you so very much!
