  • why not just buy a better quality tarp with better grommets...

  • Thanks!

  • nice 1.. thnk u sir..

  • I have a Wally World tent up in the yard that just lived through a couple of storms that produced tornados, one of them an F2 that took out several homes and damaged some friends of ours businesses here in Arkansas. Overall we have been lucky here and not had the large death tolls that some of the other states have had.

  • Totally coulda used these tips a couple weeks ago. Dang southerly winds tried to take my Red Canyon 8 man tent to Oz! My lil 2 yr old was upset that Uncle Chad had to take it down :)

  • great vid.

i tried putting a tarp up with 40mph wind and torrential rain once, was a nightmare. ripped out some of the loops.

could you do a video which is just a compilation of all the most useful knots and ties you use? would be especially useful coming from someone with so much experience and who knows what works best in which situation etc. could be a really good video.

  • just like that, i love it.

  • haha great vid, but just for kicks pause he video and press 9.

  • Nice video Dave.

  • great video, thanks for sharing the knowledge

  • Good lesson Dave.

  • Great job Dave glad to see you all well

  • Great tip Dave I am so glad there is people like you and cableguyken here on youtube that brings bushcraft to the common man. Becuase thats where it all started hundereds of years ago. Thanks for keeping it that way.

  • question. 1# is it hott in the winter. and you are amazing for that you keep making more videos and dont stop becous this is intelligense for survival skillz and peaple need it

  • @prankmakers95

The weather in MO varies.. it can be 70 in January one day.. and 0 the next.. lol! Thanks for the support

  • Thanks Dave, great video. Is the ground usually that dry this time of year there ? It seems nice and dry. Lucky you ! Thanks for the lesson, Peace

  • @Cragdwella

Dry right now.. but we are coming into the rainy season.

  • Great video, I learned something new today, and you taught me. Cheers!

  • Nice Intro and great video as well. Keep up the great work.

  • Great idea Dave,..thanks for showing.

  • more good info Dave thanks for posting

  • good vid thanks

  • yet another great video, david. thank you for sharing. :-)

  • Love the video. I already have one legal pad full of notes and I am about half way through a second one just from your videos. Thank you for sharing with us.

  • Great stuff! And the knots are easy to learn, too.

  • Neat little trick there. Yet another little trick I have learned from watching your videos. Thanks so much for being kind enough for sharing your expertise with us. God Bless

  • Lovely that is the right way to put up a bivvy - makes me wanna get out there and have a go!!

  • Nice vid Dave. I like the your suggestions here. I can see where you could use a similar technique with four trees for the corners and two in the middle for hanging your hammock under the tarp

  • nice video i just got the vulture 2 back pack and just starting on my kit. its a slow process but im getting there.

  • pretty cool!

  • @mikehawk1965

Can't wait for you to be here Bro.. just over a month now! Giddy up cowboy!

  • great video..and a good idea to setup the tarp

  • Very good demo Dave! Loved the Prusic knot

    Groetjes

  • @OzarkStrong

Check online Bro.. they have some great sales if you keep your eyes open. Mine is 7X4 I think.. I would like it longer.. but it's good for emergencies. It definitely wouldn't be my main setup :)

  • @bcafotw

Thanks so much JC! Appreciate it Bro

  • Cool and good set up, thanks, good knots! All the best Sepp

  • Great video Dave. And great setup system.

  • Very good Video, How is that tarp to you? I'm looking at one for my EDC backpack. I haven't tried it yet but I think my basha and bungee cords idea would do Kinda the same thing in windy conditions.

  • @50L1DF0X

Yes.. bungees work well.. but believe it or not.. this setup is even easier on the grommets or tie offs.

  • good info video David. Thanks :), is that a sylnylon tarp, and hw long u had it, and does it go in ur edc? thinking bout getting me one :)

  • @ez2curanut

I got this tarp with my Gearpod system.. I 've had it about 7 months.. It's pretty good for what it is.. although I prefer my tarps a bit larger. Yes.. it fits in my EDC just like you saw in the video.

  • @BushcraftOnFire ok tnx. yeah seems kinda small, but i guess that's why it is survival tarp. looking for 8x5 minimal. :)

  • Nice video glad you are making more....that tarp looks great for a rescue people to spot

  • Great video Dave.Very good info. The wind can rip a tarp to shreds in no time if setup improperly. Thanks and keep the vids coming.

  • Whoa! A new intro! Nice! I love it! Great video! Always a pleasure to watch your videos and I hope you continue to share your passion for the outdoors for many years to come. I did a paracord-poncho shelter video recently as well on my THSurvivalGear channel.

  • Now tell everyone how lucky you were not hitting a rock when driveing the tent steaks down and it was windy here today too,,Great video once again !

  • @CZBOHUNK

Yeah.. no kidding! It's Missouri.. what can I say?

  • outstanding vid once again, thank you best wishes and take care, love the intro tune too btw =]

  • awesome! thanks for the lesson.

  • Hey! I really like the new intro!!! Those are great tips...thanks for another top notch vid!!! :)

  • another great video as always they are always very informative and teach me new skills or give me other ideas and are great to watch thank you so much for the effort and time you put in :)

  • Another great video. Good suggestion.

  • Thanks David. Nice technique there.

  • I love your new intro.

  • Good job, this can be used in a number of different applications to save on your gear.

  • Great information.

  • What you are referring to as grommets on that tarp are not grommets, they are nylon loop tie out points and they are much stronger due to the fabric reinforcement than the metal grommets that are found on the cheap hardware store tarps.

Good video none the less. Using the prussic loops on a continuous ridgeline is pretty standard far when pitching a tarp for hammock use. It is also useful for the tarp guylines too as the prussics will slip beyond a certain force applied to them.

  • @bwillan

Bro.. If you listen carefully in the video I said grommets and lopp points or tie out points. I understand on my tarp they are tie outs.. but I was speaking in more general terms since many people use many different types of tarps. Sorry.. I should have been a little more clear. Thanks for the comment!

  • good one my friend

  • @cobalt120

Yup.. I mentioned that in the end of the video.. and I would probably do that in a situatin where I needed more room.

  • Great Video!!! Hope to try this out at my USAR Drill next weekend since we will be in the woods next weekend. Thx

  • Great vid dude! What tarp is that if you dont mine me asking?

  • @JSpradley123

Dont mind at all Bro.. It came in my GearPod setup

  • Thank you. I hope I never have to use it! I I ever want to teach it I can just show them your excellent vid!

  • i so much enjoy how practical and genuine your video presentations are. Thank you for all your efforts.

  • Great video man. Good stuff. Thanks

  • @seeker111168

It's by a guy named Dano..

  • Great job Bushcraft. Keep up the good work.

  • Dig a hole, lay tarp flat over the top and secure with rocks would be even more secure.

  • @agun17

It would also expend far more energy than you want to use in a bushcraftr/survival situation

  • Steve I have not voiced my opinion about your videos in awhile. I just want to tell you that they are invaluable. The things you show us all are great. Thank you and your wife for your hard work. Sincerly Greg.

  • Great tutorial. Thanks!

  • thanks good tips
