@pontico6000 Or maybe just because it's an old car. Jump into any car made before the mid 90s and you'll probably see the speedo bounce around like that (my cousin's '94 Merc does this). Modern cars have computer-controlled gauges that don't do this.

You'll find he's got a different engine in it and hasn't hooked up the rev counter for one reason or another. I doubt a 20 year old 1.8 engine is capable of 220+ no matter what you strap to it.

240km/h (guessing at this point) is 150mph, not 160.

2nd, i have a stock mk2 gti, (same generation as the car in the video) that can easily do 120mph, problem ends up i run out of gears. this being turbo'd and most likely with gears from a vw diesel, its very believable.

@gregj123 no man there isnt i am from europe i am from bosnia and the diesel vdubs there are king good torque for offroad use and hill climbing and very good economy, a diesel always has a lower top speed then a gas, you cant compare diesel and gas gearing u just cant. You cant use a diesel tranny on a gas car. my first engine swap was between a turbo diesel benz and a military issue land rover. I have a 1.6 turbo diesel a 1.9 turbo diesel and the new 1,9 tdi i love diesels but i prefer gas. .
