My son had critical aortic stenosis at 6weeks of age....... He is now 14 and 2 open heart surgeries later.....tiz a tough haul and i keep my sanity by treating him as any other child/adolescent.
Its our life but i would love to be a member of a support group for it. I live in Western Australia.
Hi, Louis had just had his 2nd Open Heart Surgery at the age of 5.5 and it was to replace the pulmonary valve, he was in and out in 5 days which was amazing !!! I am a member of Heartline Forum which is a VERY supportive group for all heart defects. I now have lots of grey hair LOL ;)
my daughter had a vsd closure at 22 months so I know how scary heart surgery can be I almost wish they had done her surgery early like they did his because it was so hard waiting everyday knowing she still had to have it done
HI! I´m writing from Argentina (sorry for my poor english). My son Ian is also affected by an A/S. He is now 5 years old and he was treated by a baloon catheterization. ¡He is incredible perfect!
Me and my wife celebrate your succesfull story from the distance.
Our son Donovan was born with mod-severe A/S, but we "got away" with baloon catheterization at Phoenix Children's hospital. Right now he has the "treat him like a normal kid" prognosis from the docs. 40 years ago a family member died from this a few days after birth. What a long way things have come! Still not looking forward to the replacement. We thank God for every day.
my son has arotic stenosis and has already had 2 x open heart valvotomies..... His diagnosis is moderate now. He also had a balloon dilatation which did not last very long.... My Cardiologist reccommends the Ross
I am a 40 yr old a/s survivor, hehe. I wish your son all the health in the world!

Hi. I grew up with aortic stenosis from a bicuspid aortic valve, and had a Ross Procedure when I was 43 years old.
You have a beautiful and wonderfully mischevous-looking little boy.
May he have decades of heart health ahead of him!

were you given the option of a prosthetic valve and warfarinisation??????? How did it happen for you?

@Durrantina
No we wasnt given the option of what valve would be used. It was a pig/cow valve.
