Hi Elric, you are the best person i have ever seen in youtube. Could you please recommend me one of these SSD for being the super fastest units so far. OCZ Vertex 2, or Intel, or Samsung?
It rocked, for a little more than 30 days then died. I will look closer at warranties from now on. 30Days, this should last years and years. Samsung is out! The crucial ones have a 3 year!
I have looked into this a few times and NONE of my drives that I have formatted and redid Windows has slowed down at all, his is a rumor that has gone overboard.
Yes, the way to avoid it is to use TRIM and Windows7. Don't buy a drive unless it supports trim like the newest OCZ and Intel drives, among others. Google TRIM or look it up on MaximumPC and other sites for more info, and you will see why.
If you look for a SSD, make sure it has TRIM support (and also your operating system), either via firmware upgrades or out of the box. Else, you'll need to wipe it out regularly.
Technology is still a bit ad-hoc and hands-on atm though, but nothing major for power users (i.e. not your mum & pops). It's just part of the regular computer maintenance.
@pcgamerjoe 99% of the time..per OCZ, Cosair, Samsung, Adata, G skill, tech support...things that COULD AND WILL slow down a ssd's performance: 1 DEFRAGGIN AS IN pointless..DONT do it, 2. like HDD's filling up the entire drive 3. installing an O.S. as a system image clone rather than doing a CLEAN " custom" install. 4. Allowing things like Hibernation=many gigs of data written MUCHmore often than should be. beyond that..it's still too new to judge the new gen of ssd's. cheers

@jjlwis Do you not have warranty???
cnastrojr 2 years ago
samsung does NOT warranty any SSD's that they sell you have to go through a dealer... and even then they might not fix or replace... not worth it!

@jjlwis did you use it in a MacBook Pro? Which was hanging after coming back from sleep? Then after force shutdown it did not boot anymore?
Then you are not alone.
I found 1 more guy out there with samsung, and an other guy had other SDD but still MacBook Pro.

Isn't it true that SSDs slow down over time? Is there any way to avoid this?
