Most of these free services give only 1 min or so of free calling. The call gets disconnected after that. I live in the US currently and use a calling card called PCO4NRI. It provides very cheap calling to India and the quality is also very good. For NRI's abroad, this is a good option. This can also be used through Skype from countries other than the US. I tried it and was successful :)

this video is misleading..

once you consume your free minutes, you have to buy a minimum credit (not sure if it's 5euro) then you can make free landline calls on selected destinations but that is only for 90 days(as long as you still have credit)..when 90 days expire, you have to buy new minimum credit again so you again have 90 days free landine calls.
