  • I think Rommel wasn't the worst and most evil general. He destroyed by his foolishness many nazis! He was outwitted by Monty's rubber tanks! Congratulations for this strategic masterpiece !!!

  • james mason was perfect for this film.Did he win any awards for it?

  • HOW LONGER WILL THE WEST MAKLE PROIT AND NOT LOOK OF THERE SELF GOD WORK WITH WEST ONLY WITH SLAUGHTER BUTT U NO LIS

  • First of all this a movie and this a turning point scene and something of a climax. Like Cleopatra talking to Octavias, Lee talking to Grant. In Germany, it could be argued that these two were giants. You could not do better than having James Mason playing the Desert Fox and daring to challenge Hitler. And to address a certain point, This conversation did indeed happen on June 17, 1944. This is a brilliant scene.

    Thanks beorns3!

  • Yeah right!..... if he spoke to Hitler this way, he would've been killed on the spot.

  • Hitler was nothing like this in person and this "conversation" never occured. So idiotic.

  • I deeply admire Rommel (as did my father, who faced his Afrika Korps ) but it is unlikely this conversation ever took place.

  • @BenAliGtor Why do you admire an asshole ?

  • Hilarious !!!!! some of those Hollywood movies - like this one - were soooooooooo silly.

  • @papoocanada compared to something like "Twilight" nowadays or what?

  • Rommel was a patriot. Unfortunately, he wanted the humiliation of Germ (in the yrs following WWI) and the Germ Army to stop so badly, that when the "miracle" of Hitler and his rebuilding occurred, he felt bound to support him. He backed Hitler because he was good for Army (in '30s). Later, he was stuck with him in the middle of an apocalyptic war, the loss of which would consign Germ to the beneficient graces of the USSR. By the time he woke up to the evil, it was too late for he and Germany.

  • I suggest some books...rather than only Hollywood ...Rommels idea for defence was genius...eavn allied commanders admired that...if Rommel was in full charge the chanse of repelling the invasion was vary possible.

  • No he was not a nazi

  • @Zior333 your right he was strictly a soldier with loyalties to Germany not to Hitler

  • Rommel was a Nazi General.

  • @LEOPARDTWO he wasn't member of the nazi party and he served only his country not hitler

  • @SuperSonicRULAA Oh he was a nazi, He supported them, he liked hitler. The allies told he wasn't a nazi because they can't bear the idea of a good nazie

  • @SchizoSystems no he wasn't, he was never a nazi he may have supported hitler and the rebuilding of germany but he certainly was not a nazi. he was a german soldier and a gentlemen. Rommel is more of an old school german soldier seeing that served in the 14-18 war in the german imperial army. And he was appalled of hearing about the genocidal attrocities against in the jews in the death camps in eastern europe. Even the british admired him for he was a humane soldier

  • Holyshit that was a excellent scene, I'm definitly going to download this movie

  • 2:14 Yes, he certainly was responsible for it.
