  • Love how theres so many un informed people in youtube comments the vid was great but people who probably dont box try to show of bout how much weight they do with their dumbells when this excersise if meant for endurence so when you are boxing you will be able to keep your arms up during the match

  • Dont see how this movement directly relates to boxing, yes they work the shoulder but i cant ever remeber anytime in any of my bouts to a front or side lateral raise... so many more shoulder exercises more relevant that will also increase speeed and power in the punch...

  • This exersize is to help condition your arms to keep your hands up and recovery time fool, weights dont get your punches harder obviously. And if you dont have arm conditioning from weights it will be hard to keep your hands up in later rounds in a fight, you bloody fool.

    Usually it's true, but not in all cases. There are some exercises that are easier doing the effort while inhaling. Usually pushing or stretching movements are done while exhaling, but raising like this is done while inhaling. It depends on ur chest movements, and so the state of ur lungs.Imagine, you raise ur hands, your ribs and chest widen, and so ur lungs, try exhaling. Low pressure in the Lungs, not letting in, but even pressing out oxygene, similar to suffocating. try it!

  • Shouldn't they be exhaling on the lift up and inhaling on the release down? Exhale on resistance, inhale on negative resistance to get oxygen to blood for next rep.

Probably same height too, i've been pumping alot of iron and it takes alot to build muscel especially get veiny, ur true tho he just needs to increase the amount he's lifting, but our arms are real lean and long, it takes extra work plus we're not roid heads!

  • on the side shoulder raise you should put your small finger knuckles higher than the other ones. Doing dumbbell presses could be another good thing to put in the training too. This amount of weight is kinda low by the way. Endurance is not about until you can't lift anymore. It is about to fatigue slow twitch muscles and that doesn't need endless reps. Go for around 15-50. You should also know that it is not the only way to train for boxing. High load and small reps could also help for the speed

  • To prevent you from injuring yourself during training, I will tell you that your principle of exhaling during the concentric phase of a movement is ideal for most exercises, but weighted squats, deadlifts or any movement where the starting position is from a crouch should be performed with exhaling on lowering of the weight, as the expansion of the core during said movements would be countered by the compression of that region, which could cause injury.

    Also The Lateral Raise is a Middle Deltiod Exercise (Also works sub-scapularis) but is not considerd a Posterior Deltoid Exericse as they mention.

The mid delts are involved, but contract statically for stabilization while the front delts do the work. The last move shown does not work the rear delts, but the mid delts. Good luck on boxing if you cant get that straight.

  • you brainless people.. u think u can beat a boxer because you are weightlifter? haha! they got pretty light things for exercise so that they will not become slow.. boxers dont lift heavy things to have loose muscles.. these loose muscles make them faster..

  • 1) you inhale on the eccentric portion of the rep, and exhale on the concentric portion of the rep.

    2) There's no such thing as "loose muscles" that "make you faster". "Big muscles" dont "slow you down". Bigger muscles are caused by hypertrophy of the type IIa, or fast twitch muscle fibers. They're FAST TWITCH - so they make you faster.

  • Good video. I got mitts and have worked with my son (12yrs old). He's a football player but we like to incoporate different workouts...to keep it interesting. Broke his shoulder and collar bone in championship game. He did these at his rehab. Doctor says it looks great. Couldn't tell it was broken by the looks, feel and range of motion.

  • you always no matter what exhale when pushing or pulling or any thing where you are using force, and inhale when on the relaxed part of the lift, for instance when benching you inhale on the way down and exhale on the way pack up.
