In general, when I would talk about Sumo with local Japanese people, they would usually say nice things about Hakuho and a general dislike for Asashoryu. It has more to do with his treatment by the media and his out-of-the-ring behavior than his awesome ability as a sumo wrestler. Hakuho is respectful and boring - which is what they want in a Yokozuna - at least one that's not Japanese.
That's pretty interesting, because the reason I prefer Hakuho is that he is more respectful. Asa has a tendency to give competitors an extra shove on the way out, he's got a far more arrogant attitude then Hakuho and it spoils his sumo for me. Which is a real shame beause the guys built like a wall and is an incredible wrestler (though Hakuho totally has the edge right now :-P).
On a related note, what sort of prices might you expect to pay to go to a basho?
Asashoryu is a great showman, he would do well in the west. Hakuho is probably the future best, but as Jason says, he's bland.

As envelopes thikness speaks clearly the audience clearly favoring Hakuho over Asashyoryu, right?! ;)

So you think the envelopes are fan mail do you?

Yes with kings portraits printed in the middle.

Emperors portraits, and the money is from sponsors, not the fans.

Audience fans sponsors what is the difference?

The sponsors don't care who wins. The fans probably do?

In the end they are all the same in this case.
