Mental ray is way to much cpu expensive at the moment! :)

  • Whoa, This was amazing. Textures were amazing, lighting and camerawork, off the hook. Music, amazing. Will you be interested in a YouTube collabaration that we are going to make? p/m me if you want more details.

  • Woaw thanks for your wonderful comment!!!

    Your Youtube collaboration sounds interresting

    I'll pm you :)

  • When you bring the clock in close-up, it reminds me of Titanic..

  • heheh :o) i see what you mean! :o)

  • One of the best animations that I've seen. It was atmospheric and intense as well. Good use of music as well for it really fit the film. I also liked the way you used the camera as if it were alive and not just still. It almost reminds me a bit of Michael Bay in a way on how he handles the camera. Great job, I hope one day you can make a full length picture on this or something similar to this. Good Luck with your work!

  • Woaw thanks for your comment jweinrub! :o)

As I love michael bay, it's even better!!! :o)

    thanks! :o)

  • No problem at all! Have you gotten the chance to see Transformers?

    few quesions!

    1) - all ur own work? or did u work in a team?

    2) how long did it take to make?

3!) at what stage of ur career are u at? - for instance, ur obviously not a reccent graduate!

    WELL DONE - GORGEOUS WORK!

  • Hi borderbound!

I did this short film alone in 10months as a school project

I work at Framestore (London UK) on Superman Returns. I'm now in france in a video game company! :o)

  • Where was the music from?

  • Impressive! VERY Impressive! :D, i searched for animated films to get inspiration to my upcoming projects and such (I'm studying creative computer graphics at the university of gävle in sweden), and i stumbled upon your work of art! Breathtaking! Three thumbs up if i where an alien

  • AHhaha funny comment! I love the end! :o)

Thank you! means a lot!! :o)

Let me know when you've done your short film too! I'd love to see it!

  • :) my first 3d-scene can be found here on my youtube, i must say again that this animation is beyond sick!, ive seen it like 5 million times! Looking forward to be working with great people like you sometime in the future! :) keep up the great work! Again 3 thumbs up!

  • Hahahah! Thanks Pellepalt! That a very nice comment!!! I really appreaciate it! :o)

I watch your 3D Scene, can we watch more of it? Keep up the good work!!! :o)

  • it was great i felt like watching a movie from a big studio :)

and just the soundtrack by itself is tremendous

  • What exactly is the story about? =)

  • "David (the kid) and Flavie (that we don't see) are in love. Unfortunately they are from two different families.

While David is on his way to find his soulmate, his own father will take care that they won't meet."

It's about a Kid who's trying to escape some bad guys :) but it's mostly an animated DEMOREEL that i presented to VFX company :)

    Sebastien LABAN

  • Oh, well it was good animating!

  • thanks

  • Wow. Impressive. :)

  • Thanks for sharing your thougts, smiletenshi! :o)

    Sebastien LABAN :o)

  • that was so good man. i can't even begin to imagine how you can make something like this but its amazing. allthough i kinda thought that the kid was a little creepy looking it was still incredible. good job.

  • Hi Ballaboveall! :o)

I totally understand what you'r saying about the little kid. I began learning Maya (the 3D Animation Program I used to create "Running Away") with this character.

That would have been wise of me to start with another character. :o)

    Thanks for the kind comments!

    Sebastien LABAN

  • wow that cool or how we say in germany "geil"

  • Cool! thanks!! :o)

    Sebastien LABAN

  • great ... i see it as some sort of trailer for a movie that is to come out almost.

Voices are a must that would finish this off!

  • You'r right Rohicks! :o)

'Running Away' is more like a trailer than a real film with a big story, even though I worked very hard on the script. Its main purpose was to be presented as a somewhat demoreel in order to get a job in the film industry.

    Cheers !!! :o)

    Sebastien LABAN

  • great rendering! Camera movement was really natural although it did move around a little to much at times.. brilliant work all the same.

  • Thanks Jimmyeatshoe! :o)

I like the mood in all the Hollywood blockbusters. I am a really big fan of all Michael Bay's work, for instance, on both films and tv commercials. They are dynamic, very powerful. Plus there is this feeling of exaggeration that I really like, that I feel makes the film a film. I tried to take all these elements and put them together into 'Running Away' and create a short film I hoped would be both entertaining and impressive.

    Best Regards,

    Sebastien LABAN

  • And cameras are animated brilliantly! Or was there some kind of motion capture done to animate them? I usually ruin my own animations with too stiff or restless camera movement. :)

  • No all cameras were keyframe animation.

If you want more information you can vistit the official website

    Thanks for the p
