Do not get into what you cannot handle, all of you out there who say you want one are only contributing to the death of poor caudates. Don't buy something because it is cute... Do reasearch and try not to buy from petstores or petrades where you are supporting the capture of these beatiful creatures.
I live in Huntington, WV. You have to look pretty hard to find them sometimes, they will not usually be swimming around freely. Especially if the water source has large mouth Bass or other large fish.
I actually take a large metal rake (not a rake for leaves) and dig down into the mud and pull out a bunch of leaves and what not. Usually I can do this several times and find several adult red spotted newts.
he is a red spotted newt, currently in the eft stage. that newt will need a whole new terrarium when it turns into a full grown red spotted/ eastern newt, because then it will be entirely aquatice.
Is that an eft.

Did u buy that, and bickelhimer I don't think it will eat a rock cuz they won't eat anything that doesn't move and it's hard to miss a worm

@bickelhimer dude the rocks are way bigger than the newts head ... don't realy see how they could "eat one"

I find the adult red spotted newts frequently in local ponds. I actually have a male and a female in captivity right now.
I have seen several eft's in the wild as well.
