I picked one of these up purely based on this vid, I was looking for something that could do convincing acoustic sims and after the upgrade (MKII) this thing smokes all the other 'acoustic' pedals out there. Oddly through my system the patches sound best on a coil tapped humbucker... basically a single coil.
Thanks for the vid, if it wasn't for this I'd still be searching in vain.
@SgtLynch :-) that's great. These are not presets though, they are my own sounds. Did you download them from MSpro?Congrats on the find. I'll get round to doing a better quality demo one day :-)))
I can't get a good sound out of this with my guitar. Even with EQ and stuff. I tried it through a PA and my amp. The pedal is very hissy on these settings. I'm guessing because it's a big boost in the very high frequency range.
These are not the combo sounds, but the PA sounds. I recorded them straight into the PC. Are you using single coils? that could be the problem maybe. I used The bridge humbucker here as you can hear from the bypassed sounds. What guitar do you have?
is there anything out there thats better then yamaha magic stomp? Budget is not a option at the moment so any feedback i will appreciate if not then i will save for yamaha magicstomp.
Anything near the rear with 2 coils on. These sounds were straight into the comp, not a combo, with no EQ. I used a 2nd MS for reverb on the sounds based on the bass algos. You need the new firmware upgrade to access the bass sounds.
It's the MK II. The guitar has standard humbuckers and no piezo whatsoever. That cwas the idea behind creating these presets - they can be used with any guitar.
Go to yahoo and try to find magicstomppro (can't paste link on youtube) all the files in the respective section are my own, feel free to download and develop them to suit your own needs.

I have a 72 tele custom with humbuckers in the bridge. I've tried it on all settings. I just can't get a sound I'm satisfied with...

I just won one on ebay, I hope it sounds good! how big is the pedal?
jwuonog 3 years ago
About the same size as 2 boss pedals, a little deeper.

If you need something to add to an existing pedalboard then no, this is as good as it gets! I wouldn't use it as a stand alone unit though.

any suggestions for pickup selection for a single coil guitar?
I just can't seem to get the same sound as you did with these acoustic patches...

Which magicstomp is this? Do you have a piezo installed on your guitar as well?

Is that designed for an acoustic, or electric?
Did you use the neck pickup?
jwuonog 3 years ago
So you have the purple one right?
jwuonog 3 years ago
with the new firmware upgrade you have acoustic, electric and bass in one box. All sounds were on the bridge pickup as far as I know.
