no, u dont need metal halides for those kinds of coral. u are good with power compact or even vho. frogspawns need medium light. small polyp stony corals need metal halides on the other hand
Filters have nothing to do with the algae. Either his lights are on wayyyyy too long or he's not using RO water. As soon as I changed to RO all algae was gone.
you would need reef salt/ live sand 2-3 inch bed preferably/ 2 pounds live rock per gallon (can use 1 pound but 2 is best for natural filtration)/ heater/ 2-3 power heads that move roughly 7-10x your fish tank volume per hour/ lights 4-10 watts per gallon is best if keeping corals, im using an oddysea 130w power compact lighting, but if fish only then flourescent will do/ hydrometer/ i use a canister filter fluval 305 at petsmart for like 140ish and ONLY REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER PERIOD
@klok95330 I think you should check out updated info, you don't need a sand bed but there good to have, 7-10 times your tank flow is really low 25 times is better, watts per gallon is a useless method, comparing 10 watts of PC lights to 10 watts of LED it's pretty different. Canisters are pretty big nitrate producing filters, refractometers are better than hydrometers by a long shot.
dark creepy video. FAIL
