Couldn't agree less. I played this for 1 hour last night and this morning I've already put it on ebay. I couldn't understand what the hell was going on and it seemed that I could press any of the buttons in any order and I still created awesome combos. Utter pants.
I'm not much of an action game player, tbh, but I saw Bayonetta on a sale just yesterday, and so far, I'm very much in love with the game. Its hard to take it seriously, but when you get into actual action, its very easy to learn, yet exciting, and there are the absolutely millions of combos you can whip out on your opponents :P
Bought it off Game on Demand a couple months ago...OMFG what a damn surprise. The best action game i've played this generation. The story made absolutely no sense, but the action is bar none the best i've seen in any action game, and that includes God of war 3. The combat is so deep and rewarding, the game has so much replayability barbecue of the unlucks. If you like action games, pick this game up now!!
@TheSoldierSaints It's more easily seen when he mentions it on the PS3 review; it's where the vsync (or lack thereof) messes up and you get "striping" of the screen...kinda like if you cut the screen into horizontal strips, then dragged every other one a few pixels to the side.

@Prxctise I think PS3's architecture makes it harder to port games over as well. it has its video memory and general memory separate. I think I read that it also has memory bottlenecks in certain cases.

Luckily, SEGA has tried to make the load times better by giving you the option to install Bayonetta onto your PS3. But the graphics are still...bleh.
That is not to say the PS3 isn't a great system, but the PS3 version of Bayonetta is baaaad.

I love games like God of War, DMC, Ninja Gaiden, ect., but I must say this game trumps them all.Yes it can be a bit challenging at times, but the controls are so fluid and the fact that offset and cancel your attacks to dodge and continue your combo afterwards make most fight feel fair. Like the reviewer said, if you get hit, its usually your fault. Constant checkpoints, and if you do die, your return back at full health, makes the game "hardcore" yet accessible enough for more casual players.

Also, the camera issues and the same damn boss every damn fucking time. If you want to play a badass action game play god of war, or darksiders. Darksiders isnt as good as god of war (series), but its still very fun and is not just action like god of war, but also more action adventure. Darksiders is open world theres alot of puzzle solving. Reminds me of a new more badass zelda ocorina of time on the 64.

But the main problem was that there was no storyline and u never felt like you had a purpose to get to the next level to find out whats going on. Because you never did.
This game sucked and was boring. The controls/gameplay was too confusing. And there were always certain combos that youd have to pull off to beat certan enemies, only they were too hard to pull off. One of the most overrated games ever. Plus there was no story or splot development. The story was confusing as hell. I got bored after a while but kept playing anyways. But then i was fed up with having to do this same bullshit hard combo to take some fuckers out so i broke the game disc in half.
Enslaved Odyssey to the West is a better game than this pile of shit Bayonetta. I finally finished this piece of shit game. Fuck you Sega, you suck at making games. Retire already. Just like your piece of shit consoles.

@ariel12955 Not sure if you're being sarcastic with the extra periods at the end but I usually play games for their stories except on occasions where games have no story but the gameplay really makes up for it. The gameplay of Japanese turn based games isn't really that good but the story's the reason people play it and like it.

09 was a great year for games. I picked this and Devil May Cry 4 up last week. I just got to playing this game yesterday and I have to say... it's really fun... and really hard to master. It's even harder than Devil May Cry 4, since that didn't really require any real skills.

@NINJAinTIGHTS i agree with what you said, everyone i speak to about Bayonetta tells me its a great game... then i ask them about dogde offset and they tell me they didnt use it. its this single innovation that elevates Bayonetta to a level which NO action game has ever reached. and hopefully Bayonetta 2 will do the same, thats as long as they dont mess it up!

I've never played demons souls but thats only because i don't have a ps3 yet i've seen walkthroughs of it and it's easily better than most of the games on the list im really glad dark souls is gonna be on the 360 looking forward to playing it

@Zacagaweah Well my good man the idea of that list was to show the top 100 best games of this gen. Well its obvious that the titles in the list were chosen due to popularity and amount of units sold rather than objective quality of said titles. Don't get me wrong I love a bit of casual gaming as much as the next guy but games like Bayonetta (which has been hailed as the best action game of this gen) and DS deffinately deserve to be acknowedged for what they are worth.
