I have Directv as my tv source, but for some reason I can not get the black sidebars to go away. I only get 4:3 ratio and no widescreen. This even happens on some DVD's. Any idea what might be causing the problem?
You can use any of them, some work better than others. For dish for example you use a capture card that capture the output of the STB. I use a over air card that gets the digital TV signal
Thanks for putting up this vid. I have just recieved my DMA2200, however the CD-ROM has a big crack in the disc and I am unable to load the software from this. I have raised a call with Linksys support who were pretty awful to be honest. They kept directing my to the website where there are only 3 PDF's to download and no software. Eventually they said they'd post a disk to me, but would call back first. No call as yet.
I had a few issues with the set up of the DMA-2100 myself. The biggest and most urgent issue I had was I did not follow the Media Center Configuration (3) correctly. Step one 1: Insert CD-ROM.
Sure enough I got all the way to step 7 and had the error "Extender did not connect". Inserted the CD-ROM and it has been working ever since then. I thought about the 2200 but was reluctant because I wanted to be able to use any DVD player I chose. Any way Greattttt Video.

no you can't, you can only go with an OEM unit or you could build a small PC and put Vista on it to get some of the the functionality

do you know what sor of hardware to you think the extenders or build on is mainstream pc components and what software/OS is it running on
