  • Rare Earth is one of my favorite top ten bands growing up in the 70s. I still crank it up whenever I get the chance.

  • Very Fun Time to Play!

  • Audio needs to be delayed 0.25 seconds. VLC Player can do that.

Use flashgot to download .mpg, then play file with VLC. Make adjustment in synchronization window > Advance Audio -0.25 secs.

That's a "minus," to delay the audio.

So much technology, worth the flashback.

    Legalize it.

  • Yeah...Awesome drummer!!! Don Henley,Phil Collins eat your heart out...you can not touch Pete Rivera!!!

  • Very cool old clip! They were So tight! Even later when we had the SO MEMORABLE opportunity to open for them for 2 weeks. Check out the new clips (sorry audio only) from Calgary in '82

WOW! Brings back memories. One of our guys just posted them, won't hear them ANYWHERE else. These were off OUR soundboard! Enjoy!

  • These guys were Terrific!!!! They were my 1st favorite rock group.

  • oh oh ohohoh get readyyy

  • All I can say is WOW! My father used to have the album with the 21 minute version of this song. I gotta help him find it or get my own copy.

That was a AWESOME performance video.

    Thanks Bozonono-13 for posting this

  • Peter is still playing with a group called The Classic Rock Allstars. A group of 60's and 70's artist that you will recognize. The are worth your while to check out.

  • The legendary Motown RARE EARTH appeared numberous times on public TV throughout the late 60's and on through the 70's. Famous shows like Midnight Special/Host Wolfman Jack, The Ed Sullivan Show-they performed "I know I'm losing you" all these ice follies girls skateing around them/very surreal I thought I was dreaming & also on Don Kirshner Rock Concert etc.,. which I think this Classic Rare Earth live performance of "Get Ready" is taken from. Totally trailblazing Rare Earth are, thank you!

  • Drumming and singing at the same time is REALLY hard...

    \m/ Get Ready! \m/

  • Great song !

  • Indeed it is, as it was written by none other than Smokey Robinson!

  • Master Iconic MOTOWN Composer Mr. Smokey Robinson: all those Classic hits of his are monumental & the music artists & bands that breath life into those songs. Great memories & heartwarming time. Thanks! Also love legendary MOTOWN Composer Mr. Norman Whitfield who take Rare Earth personally under his strong wings when they did their Classic album titled "Ma" and also "Ecology" (Ed is on the cover), "One World" "Get Ready" (all those smiles from Rare Earth), "Band Together" etc,. all treasures!

  • Thank you for this video.Salute from Croatia.

  • if that song were one second longer it'd be

    420. :-D

  • I was playing some old vinyls recently at a friends house and discovered these guys :]

  • Fantastic !!!!!!

    thanks bozonono13

  • When he was born Rivera?

  • One stick he clearly tossed on purpose. I imaging it was broken. The last one at the end, flew out of his hand.

  • Don't agree but respect NHLPENS opinion. MA alone is another great extended piece by RE and so are I'VE BEEN(LOSSING YOU) or JUST WANT TO CELEBRATE. Anybody knows where to get full version of this, please. I believe this and IRON BUTTERFLY's IN A GADDA DA VIDA two of my first rock albums when I was just 10, just after my DISNEYLAND stage LOL !

  • Pete Rivera was notorious for losing a drumstick or 2 while playing, I noticed he lost 2 sticks during this video. I had the fortune of meeting him in 2000.I interviewed him on my radio show,he took the time to explain how Rare Earth came about & the record label of the same name. Rare Earth records was created to showcase the white rock&soul artists of Motown. Them being the most sucsessful on label. he was a cool dude, big dude. I got him to sign a couple of my orig. RE albums. Im a Pete fan

  • I know this is a cover version of "The Temptations", but no offence, this is the only good song performed by Rare Earth, Peter Rivera is maybe the best drummer I've ever heard. But I have failed to find any songs even remotely similar to this track.

  • Man that really takes some doing,- to sing and keep the tempo going on those drums, a real master at work. awesome

  • NOW, THIS IS MUSIC!!!!

  • brilliant music I personally agree the long version is the best.Todays music is just Gothic shit, I grew up listening to this kinda music.Feel sorry for todays kids growing up on Disney channel high school musical and other obnoxious dirt.

  • love the drum solo

  • The original "long version" is the best. Still listen to it on vinyl.

  • I LOVE RARE EARTH!

  • This is in battlefield vietnam too!

  • there motown as well

  • Only a Word - THE BEST, THE INCREDIBLE, THE MASTER, THE ... and see the 21'32" Version.

Una obra de arte. Get "Rere" tendria que tener 100 millones de visitas. Not words for this song

  • Awesome. Nuff said

  • check out my version--search=matt ebert

  • Come back when you can spell MOTOWN right!!

  • You tell him, e37a!!!

  • Was that fuckin He Man on the drums?????

  • hahaha

  • hahaha

  • great stuff

  • Mannnnnnnnnnnnnn...., were did this White Cat get all of that rythm and soul. Shit! Go on with yo bad-self! Do it WhiteBoy! Hats off to you!!! (not racist but just blown away by the FUNK)

    PEACE

  • I'm glad you recognize that. Before disco came and dumbed down the soul, rock and funk many musicians were stretching into new dimensions of sound.

I saw Rare Earth many times as a teenager and I was proud to call them one of my favorite groups of any genre.

Late 60's early 70's music was advancing by leaps and bounds. Pete Rivera got street cred in all neighborhoods.

    Peace

  • WOW

  • wow 1974 dont seem that long ago to me

  • LOL!

  • Cavemanness is a state of mind, like yours. Learn to respect different others.

  • First of all, he(The Caveman as you call him) mostly plays congas, but you wouldn`t know the difference, would you?

Second; that you are not able to understand that Eddie Guzman is an accomplished hand drum player, tells us all we ned to know about you. Why don`t you rather find a topic you know something about - if it at all exists - to comment on?

  • thanks brother Mr Guzman is no longer with us.

Eddie could play any percussion instrument. He was self taught and a great percussionists. eg jr

  • Is that the best thing you can say about rock and roll history?

    Rare Earth is legendary.

  • Brilliantbeing

Not going to go there with you and was meant as a compliment. Could say much more but the music says it better than I.

    PEACE

  • Right On.

  • I wholeheartedly agree!! Leave all of that bullshit out of the equation when it comes to the music!!!!!!!!!

  • Pete was the bomb. I understand he's back on the scene with a new Rare Earth.

Even in their prime they were underrated.

  • You can e-mail Mr. Rivera. He is one of the most open honest guys in rock. Love this band.

  • Good drummer! good band!

  • who says my hippie comment was derogatory?

  • That one band member does not have a shirt on, it must have been hot that night. I guess the a/c was broke down, you think. Or maybe, he was trying to impress the chicks?

  • Ok, you dead heads out there, this is how you party hardy...you dance...you don't stand around the stage like you are pumped up on morphine or worse yet embombing fluid ready to be place six feet under. I went to a rockfest a few weeks ago, and only about three of us new how to get down. LOL

  • what about the drummer!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw this line up in 1972 with Bad Finger and War. they were awesome!

  • Thanks for your response. I ordered the CD you mentioned and am awaiting its arrival.

  • The video of Rare Earth/Peter Rivera singing Hey Big Brother at CalJam has been removed. Why? and will it be returned?

Also, are there any commercially available cds that were recorded at a concert (as opposed to canned studio recordings) of Rare Earth & Peter Rivera singing Get Ready & Hey Big Brother (perhaps from late 60's to early 70's) ?

  • For some reason the people at Motown which was Rare Earth's label stopped making Rare Earth CD's. The Rare Earth "In Concert" album was live and has the songs you want. Look for used copies of the CD on Ebay or Amazon.

  • Awesome When I was a kid I thought they were a Black Band They got Soul and Rhythm Thanks
