dude for a 2.4L its legit...its good to hear you KNOW the specs on the needs for back pressure in order to maintain or increase torque. I just rebuilt my 3.0 top end and am now researching intake and exhaust...Im considering borla($165 ouch!) flowmaster 40 series ($65 not bad) and maybe magnaflow....so many decisions!!!! lol
i love 4RUNNERS but the muffler is to small you need to get something deeper becuase that sounds lake a little 97 corolla make it sound more man and it sounds really weird when it shifts i dont really like it
@asachapin A few things... not really the best video, I should make a better one. Old digicam just didn't do the trick. I understand your point on it sounding not quite so tough, but what can a guy do? It's a 4 cylinder after all, and it sounds a million times better than trucks running the flowmaster and borla kits on their 4 cylinders.
What do you mean, it is too small? It's 2 feet long.. lol.
And I do find your comment offensive, my car sounds much better than a riceroni Corolla :D
@CorvetteKoRn2 yo sorry about that but your totaly right and when i said that its to small i ment the opening not the length so dude sorry bout that your 4runner is awesome you did some nice mods to it ohh and congrats for winning that oil and the $500
@asachapin It's cool man, and thank you for the compliments.
As far as the opening, to increase it would be worse. The backpressure needs to be equalized for the motor to run correctly and produce torque. The 2.5 inch piping is actually a little too open, but it's a minimal difference. Bigger exhaust is not always the answer. The 3RZ stainless street header is great for power and backpressure :D Trust me, I thought this through very much before I went ahead and did it.
@MrSaber152 The gearing in this video is stock 3.91 but I have 4.56's now. I should do another video... Not really much out of the ordinary on performance, I've got the valves newly adjusted, intake, exhaust, etc.
I do believe I'm around 20-30hp over stock but I haven't ever dynoed it to prove what it is really at...
Although, I can show you my webpage for a list of full mods, page 3 has the mod list... you can use that as a few ideas. Go to the video description and you'll see the link.
I've put enough into it to not remember how much I've spent... but I do have a list on page 3 of my cardomain if you'd like to see. I'll post a link in the description.
I bought it for $5500 two years ago but it's gone through one hell of a transformation...
Sick 4runner,
I have a couple questions about my own 4runner, maybe you could help.
I have a 95 3L 6 cylinder, currently have a K&N intake, magniflow muffler w/ upgraded 2.5 inch pipe after the muffler. (I have seen a big difference)
I want to get performance cat and headers. Do you know if its possible to get headers to a 2.5 opening? or do you just have to have an adapter?
Is the back pressure for the 2.5 pipe worse for the 6 cylinder as well or is it just the 4 cylinder?
Thanks

sounds a little bit ricer dude you need something deeper but i know its impossible to tell before you get em how its really going to sound
whytebredd 1 year ago
@whytebredd I would love something deeper, I agree, but like you said, no way to tell.
At least it doesn't have the whole ricer Honda rattle sound. I'd say mine just sounds like a typical 4 cylinder, not a ricer.
