Still, your assertion is wrong. Lady Hope's story about Darwin's conversion is very inconsistent with the facts of his death, and his closest family denied that any of it was real. So yeah, I've studied some history.

All people have to do is put down there beliefs lower there guard and read the Bible! What I find interesting is how people are always writing off the supernatural claims in the Bible as "beyond the realm of science", as if the very fact that we don't see any evidence is PROOF that they're real. But I think that if things like souls and such are actually real, then there can be some sort of test or observation we can make that would demonstrate their existence. If religions were true, the science would line up with them.
The reason many atheists have a problem with creationists is that the creationist view prevents progress. We stay stagnant. We stop trying to learn and better ourselves and the world for our children. If people believe that god did everything, then what is the point of even trying to make things better, or making discoveries in medicine? This is why we see people refusing medical treatment for their children on religious grounds. This is why we get angry about creationist indoctrination.

We are the only species that did not become extinct, at least, not yet. Evolution shows that every species eventually becomes extinct, and we certainly will, too, although it may be millions of years in the future. Evolution is not a straight line, it branches and overlaps, sometimes it goes quickly, sometimes slowly, depends on many factors.

@GunOfGod777 You are comparing apples to oranges and it strikes me as either dishonest or ignorant. Evolution is science. It has an overwhelming amount of good evidence. We have observed alleles changing over subsequent generations, we have observed a nested hierarchy of species as is predicted by evolutionary theory, we have a wealth of genetic information that confirms the same hierarchy, and we have even observed speciation. I'm not aware of any good evidence for a hell.

Science do not base its conclusions on Darwin's collections of animals or writings, but on modern sciences, like DNA, lab test and observations. Because most actual science teachers don't teach evolution the way they should, due to how much stigma the Christian right has been able to put on it. And those who do teach evolution are preachers or other religiously biased people, who can't do anything except completely misrepresent it (the same way you have), and say it's "fact".
If evolution is indisputable where is the missing link between human and ape...why are there still apes today if we evolved passed that stage a bagillion years back...if u have so much faith in this evolution which u can't explain or understand so u need a scientist then why is it so hard to have faith in something people can explain and has proof
@Lyrikcha Okay 1. Humans didn't evolve from apes, apes and humans evolved from a common ancestor. We aren't the children of apes as you seem to think, more like a cousin. 2. Just because part of a species evolves doesn't mean the whole specie of that will evolve. Genetic mutations happen randomly and sometimes species separate from each other before or during an evolutionary change. So you could have species A that came from species b, but species A still exist.
@Lyrikcha 3. You don't require faith in something that has large amounts of evidences for it. For example, evolution has evidences supporting it in DNA, fossils of past species, etc... So really you don't require faith to believe in evolution if you make a point to examine the evidences. I happily did that and I understand evolution and evidences that supports it.

@acrazyone1 - Leviticus is the Old Testament- that is before the birth of Jesus. Yes, there are many crazy, strange beliefs and rules in the OT, such as slaughtering a perfect lamb for your sins.... Jesus (often refered to as "the Lamb) died for just that reason- to remove all the Old Testament laws from us, and give us a new covenant. He gave His life for us. So- dont go out and kill yoru gay friends, or adulterers.... they are forgiven, and need not die. That is what it says.

@Ryuyari You clearly do not, judging by your comments, evolution is scientific fact, I supposse you don't believe in gravity, or the fact that the earth revolves around the sun. Maybe you believe that the earth is flat after all it says it is in the bible. Secondly to be an atheist all one must do is not believe a God exists, you could still believe in ghosts, or an afterlife, or that aliens gave us life. Again there are no predertermined rules or structure. Buddhists are atheists for example.
My proof of God's existance is His creation. There is no way evolution could have set up the, to use the Lion King's term, circle of life. And how could an animal like the giraffe exist today it it had to go through a whole bunch of trial and error to get it's long neck? Did you know that the force with which it send's blood to it's head while it's standing upright would blow through it's skull when it leans down. But because of the way it's designed it gets soaked up in a sponge in it's head.

@PrivateJoker17 Prayer is our way of talking to God. And the way Jesus taught us to pray includes "Thy will be done". Because we don't know His will we can ask things of Him but realize that the answer could be yes or no. There are NO holes in God's Word, only holes in how some people interpet it. There is a difference. and the reason for God having those people killed was because they were sinning against him (breaking His laws) and the punishment He chose for the was death (alot like how we have the death penalty for certain crimes in various countries). God doesn't need to be justified in His rendering judgement on sinners just like a earthly judge doesn't need to be justified in rendering a verdict on a guilty man who has broken the law. The commandment says "Thou Shalt Not Murder". God is not capable of sinning, The choice to sin is ours and ours alone. We are guilty but despite that He provided a way for us to be saved from His judgement. If we repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour He will forgive us.
@Ryuyari You're not seeing the point I am making, if God has a plan, if he knows everything that will ever happen, because it is him who is behind everything, then it is he who made those people sin, he already decided they would sin when he supposedly created them. Therefore we have no free will and he is punishing us for his own misdoings.
The penalty for breaking God's law is death and one day everyone will stand before Him for judgement. Jesus paid that penalty for us but we must accept that free gift that we do not deserve. Also knowing what is going to happen is not the same as making someone do it. If you knew who was going to win the superbowl this year does that mean you made them win it? Yes God has a plan but we still have a choice to follow Him or not. You can't blame Him because He can't sin or make others sin.

@Urfullobull If you look at the Hebrew word that is translated it is "ratsah" which properly translated means murder. Just because one translation says kill doesn't make it right. There are plenty of other versions that have it right. the greek word for love has 4-5 different words and all are different types yet they all will show up as love in an english translation. some Bibles will define them but others will just use the word love.

Yep the "all or nothing" is what got me to Thinking and Investigating and using Critical Thinking Skills. I had actually started out in my youth try-ing to prove Gods exsistance and the more I investigated the more the MYTH unraveled...so here I am today an Atheist...I still sometimes have deep seeded fears of the Threat of HELL as it has been ingrained so deeply from childhood and on up into my 20s. But logic tells me that "Hell" is the last resort stratagy in recruting Believers.

Gravity and the earth revolving around the sun have some proof that put them close to being Law. Evolution doesn't have ANY (dna isn't proof, the amount of difference 1% alone makes disproves it). What I find interesting is how people are always writing off the supernatural claims in the Bible as "beyond the realm of science", as if the very fact that we don't see any evidence is PROOF that they're real. But I think that if things like souls and such are actually real, then there can be some sort of test or observation we can make that would demonstrate their existence. If religions were true, the science would line up with them.

We have observed alleles changing over subsequent generations, we have observed a nested hierarchy of species as is predicted by evolutionary theory, we have a wealth of genetic information that confirms the same hierarchy, and we have even observed speciation. I'm not aware of any good evidence for a hell.

Science do not base its conclusions on Darwin's collections of animals or writings, but on modern sciences, like DNA, lab test and observations. Darwin could have been the pope and written everything as a joke. Evolution is not a fact cause of Darwin, but cause the idea in it self has proves true.

I don't understand what made you want to bring up something like this. It's not relevant at all to what we were talking about. But if another 9/11 did happen, of course I would blame humans. How could I blame God for anything when I think that, even if some God did exist, He doesn't intervene at all? Things happen either as a result of what people did, or a natural consequence.

That doesn't prove anything about any sort of god being real. There are plenty of planets that are in areas that allow for he possibility of life. It's not too hard to think that one of those planets (ours) actually had hat happen. A the very least, it mainly proves that we're lucky.

Because most actual science teachers don't teach evolution the way they should, due to how much stigma the Christian right has been able to put on it. And those who do teach evolution are preachers or other religiously biased people, who can't do anything except completely misrepresent it (the same way you have), and say it's "fact".

@Lyrikcha Okay 1. Humans didn't evolve from apes, apes and humans evolved from a common ancestor. We aren't the children of apes as you seem to think, more like a cousin. 2. Just because part of a species evolves doesn't mean the whole specie of that will evolve. Genetic mutations happen randomly and sometimes species separate from each other before or during an evolutionary change. So you could have species A that came from species b, but species A still exist.

@Lyrikcha 3. You don't require faith in something that has large amounts of evidences for it. For example, evolution has evidences supporting it in DNA, fossils of past species, etc... So really you don't require faith to believe in evolution if you make a point to examine the evidences. I happily did that and I understand evolution and evidences that supports it.

If there is no god, both xian and those who reject god get the same fate, But if the xian god is right, then the xians go to heave and the god rejectors go to hell." However there are more religions out there that have similar threats other than xianity. For example, if the muslims are right you would be going to hell. Your logic is flawed.

If you read the stories you will find Jesus's words were: "Let him without sin cast the first stone."... Not one of us is perfect. @acrazyone1 - Leviticus is the Old Testament- that is before the birth of Jesus. Yes, there are many crazy, strange beliefs and rules in the OT, such as slaughtering a perfect lamb for your sins.... Jesus (often refered to as "the Lamb) died for just that reason- to remove all the Old Testament laws from us, and give us a new covenant. He gave His life for us. So- dont go out and kill yoru gay friends, or adulterers.... they are forgiven, and need not die. That is what it says.

It is the whole idea of why there is a new and old testament. Two wrongs do not make a right- hence, we are not the judge of others, only of ourselves, and our own actions, and God will judge us according to our hearts. Obviously, you hve read the Bible, so you already know- Love thy neighbor, but love thy enemy too. Help those less fortunate.

The reason we know these things are wrong are because God inscribed His laws within us. Evolution involves survival of the fittest yet even Darwin openly believes that mankind should not live that way. I am curious though. Maybe you believe that the earth is flat after all it says it is in the bible. Secondly to be an atheist all one must do is not believe a God exists, you could still believe in ghosts, or an afterlife, or that aliens gave us life. Again there are no predertermined rules or structure. Buddhists are atheists for example.

My proof of God's existance is His creation. There is no way evolution could have set up the, to use the Lion King's term, circle of life. And how could an animal like the giraffe exist today it it had to go through a whole bunch of trial and error to get it's long neck? Did you know that the force with which it send's blood to it's head while it's standing upright would blow through it's skull when it leans down. But because of the way it's designed it gets soaked up in a sponge in it's head.

Because we don't know His will we can ask things of Him but realize that the answer could be yes or no. There are NO holes in God's Word, only holes in how some people interpet it. Benny Hinn and TD Jakes are examples of people who do not really understand scripture.

God doesn't need to be justified in His rendering judgement on sinners just like a earthly judge doesn't need to be justified in rendering a verdict on a guilty man who has broken the law. The commandment says "Thou Shalt Not Murder". God is not capable of sinning, The choice to sin is ours and ours alone. We are guilty but despite that He provided a way for us to be saved from His judgement. If we repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour He will forgive us.

The penalty for breaking God's law is death and one day everyone will stand before Him for judgement. Jesus paid that penalty for us but we must accept that free gift that we do not deserve. Also knowing what is going to happen is not the same as making someone do it. If you knew who was going to win the superbowl this year does that mean you made them win it? Yes God has a plan but we still have a choice to follow Him or not. You can't blame Him because He can't sin or make others sin.

@Urfullobull If you look at the Hebrew word that is translated it is "ratsah" which properly translated means murder. Just because one translation says kill doesn't make it right. There are plenty of other versions that have it right. the greek word for love has 4-5 different words and all are different types yet they all will show up as love in an english translation. some Bibles will define them but others will just use the word love.

@Urfullobull Sorry to disappoint but i will not be staying away from voting booths. Funny you should bring up unicorns though. Did you know that the orginal definition in the first Webster dictionary for unicorn was a type of Rhino? It's scientific name is unicornus (meaning ONE HORN) it wasn't until later that the horsetype defination came about. Yes there was a talking snake and donkey. And the Bible makes it clear that witches, wizards, ect. are servants of the devil.

@Ryuyari Sorry to disappoint U,but Unicorns the Horse type were thought of long before Websters ever published thier first dictionary.The KJV is written in OLD ENGLISH the term for Unicorn comes from old french and late latin(13century).A rhinoceros Has TWO horns NOT ONE and cannot be confused with a deffinition or term stating that it is a Unicorn. @Ryuyari You failed to UNDERSTAND that with the one horned rhino that UNICORNIS was tacked on to the scientific name of that rhino to deferentiate that particular classification of rhino.NOT BECASE Unicornis roots from the discription of that particular genus..Unicornis is FROM the Deffinition of the latin term for UNICORN;the Mythical Horse type creature.If Ur going to try and use Science,Pay the fuck attention to what Ur doing. Again if you DO THE RESEARCH it is clear that the thing they are refering to is the Rhino. And it makes mention of both the one and two horned rhino's for your information. I'm not going to argue this point with you because you stated earlier that that there is no 1 horned rhino. Clearly you lack a reasonable arguement.

@Ryuyari No what I lack is a perfect memory and forgot about the RARE one-horned Rhino and did take the time to look it up once U pointed out my mistake and by just simply looking at the Deffinition of the Scientifiic name and Origin Knew Imediately where U got the Unicornis classification at and mis-construded it as Unicornis originaly comming from the deffinition for Rhino....when it come from Latin discribing a one horned Horse. Science intermixies Latin terms for genus discriptions.Genius.

@Ryuyari Because they are regional stories and also passed down stories......and in the particular regions where there are those flood stories it is shown through palentological and archeological evidence that those particular areas are subject to flooding and have had flooding in those areas off and on for centurys.U do some research...U obviously don't know enough in the area Ur talking about to even speak up and say anything of value.

And somthing you would expect to find with it is, as previously stated, millions of dead things covered in rock layers all over the face of the earth. As for the cursing. I am not hurt by it. If there was a World wide flood there would be a section of strata in the geological time period of The Ark that would be the MOST DENSE and COMPACTED area full and over flowing with dead stuff more abundant than ANY other level of strata, if everything on Earth was KILLED at the same time.It would be the thickest most poulated section of .cont.

U must realize that of course SOME of the history of the Bible is going to line up with REAL History...Just like when U talk about Zeus and other Gods they will of course line up with the History of those cultures that those God myths that they are centered around. It was my courses in Ancient History where it all started comming together for me, and I saw the silliness in Believing in God(s).
If U look at all Religions, ALL of them have Crazy Supernatural Claims.

@Urfullobull Well the 1st two parts were without cursing. I have given you evidence (outside the bible i might add) that argues my case well. What part of that is not using my brain? Debaters like Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens (both atheists) don't curse their opponents while they are depating and issue because it ruins their arguement. Calm and politness are the order for such discussions. If you lose your cool you fail to make sense as well.

Yep the "all or nothing" is what got me to Thinking and Investigating and using Critical Thinking Skills. I had actually started out in my youth try-ing to prove Gods exsistance and the more I investigated the more the MYTH unraveled...so here I am today an Atheist...I still sometimes have deep seeded fears of the Threat of HELL as it has been ingrained so deeply from childhood and on up into my 20s. But logic tells me that "Hell" is the last resort stratagy in recruting Believers.

I won't instantly just drop what i believe in favor of the better arguement. I will turn it into a good learning experiance though. Gravity and the earth revolving around the sun have some proof that put them close to being Law. Evolution doesn't have ANY (dna isn't proof, the amount of difference 1% alone makes disproves it). Every time something comes up it gets disproven a short while later. That is why it takes more faith to believe in it than in God (who is NONE of the things you called Him). Unless you are going to make a case for your side then don't bother replying. I'm not going to answer to attacks with no backing.
