That death may have been preventable, but would have required an amputation, which Marley turned down. Pretty much legal in California now. If I stub my toe I can get a medical card, go to a cannabis club and have a smorgasbord to choose from... from a ganja slushy to lolly-pops, or the highest grade. Plus you can have an ounce on you legally and grow up to 6 plants.

@QWERTYOLOGABLE1 Smoking cannabis can lead to cancer (there has been evidence to suggest it is more carcinogenic than tobacco but these studies aren't conclusive) unfortunately. Nevertheless, if alcohol and tobacco are legal it makes no sense to make cannabis illegal.

@jancevat Evidence to suggest it has benefits isn't supressed; the medicinal effects are well known. It is used to treat many diseases and can be used as a general analgesic. While the short term effects are relatively harmless (less so than alcohol) there are negative long term effects such as the possible development of depersonalisation disorder. Also, lung damage can occur due to the inhalation of coarse particulates and carcinogens; that's a risk taken when smoking anything.

@jancevat Still, even if it can be harmful (after long-term, regular use), the government has no right to ban any drug no more than they have the right to tell people what food they can and can't eat. The public should be free to make their own decisions If they want to smoke weed, snort coke etc then they should be allowed to; they are solely responsible for any repercussions.

All your statements will be true, but also true is: many teens smoke gen-manipulated weed and this is so strong, that they get psychotics. Smoking is o.k. if you are hard enough, but don´t glorify it. There are side effects, if you smoke every day. You forget many things, you have no motivation for doing importend things (working, learning etc.), you avoid contacts to "uncool" peoples or conflicts. Legalize it, but smoking is not good for all peoples.
