I didn't see where he nearly ran over the audience. The guy's paid to be inch perfect around a race track at up to 200 mph. Even on pit stops, his job is to slow down to just below the pit lane speed limt as he hits the line then brake as late as possible while hitting an exact mark, so leaving three feet between himself and the front row is no big deal.

Stuck behind others though, he's a very poor driver who cannot use the car he's in without needing a pit stop to undercut. He's also terrible at wet racing.

It's like Schumacher. The car won him races, and his skill in the wet won him races. Not much else. Records may fall, but none are even close to what Senna was.
