I am a mom of a teenager that likes MCR, so I came hear to listen to the music she likes and I must confess that the lyrics all seem rather consumed by the ideas of death and killing. I'd like to know what you mcr fans believe is the focus of their music. Are their lyrics metaphors or desires? i.e. do I just not understand the meaning of these songs because of current meanings of their words, or is mcr promoting death, killing, suicide? If you watch some of their live performances or interviews, they make it clear that they aren't trying to promote death/suicide/violence. Their goal is to encourage people to be themselves, express themselves, and be happy with themselves, and they tell their fans that suicide/violence isn't the answer to their problems. While some of their music may not come off this way, that's their ultimate goal in making music.

It just happens to be that the song that this album is from follows a story...erm can't remember the story properly so just google "Three cheers for sweet revenge story" :P and that is why a lot of the songs have a death theme. Another of their albums, The Black Parade, also has a lot of death references and that's because the story behind THAT one is a character called The Patient who dies of cancer (continued..)

They don't anyone to feel like they're alone hating themselves and wanting to escape life. MCR have saved a lot of lives including mine. Let your daughter listen, please.
