It sets and we don't lay brick or do anything mortar when it's below 31 degrees. They would know that and schedule around that when windows are installed. They are tough windows. I made a 'chinking' sound tapping them to check them out. I don't sling rocks or toys with the mower. I just toss them in the flowerbed or toy basket as I find them. I'm sure they can be replaced if need be. A sledgehammer fixes everything. Would recommend the screen so the basement can be aired out and doesn't smell.
Two questions; what kept the mortar from feezing? It appears to be winter there. Also, what happens when your mower slings a rock through one block of the window? Easily replaces? Need a small screen in front?
The $40 savings per window and the mortar and all the stuff , tools, supplies, mental hassle, and risk of the window falling into basement wasn't worth the savings I would have had. I think I had/have a warranty too.
I recently installed solid block windows not realizing that I would need better ventilation after installing a gas heater in the basement. Anyway way to remove a block or 2 after installation?
Not that I know of. I had them put a dryer vent in even though I have no dryer down there. You never know if you'll need it. I personally would call them. I'm doubting it but then again, $100 for a replacement isn't a wallet killer. You could always rent a hammer drill and bore a hole through the concrete wall at the right angle to create a draft from the water heater. That's what happened with my new furnace with intake and exhaust vents. Hope it gives ya a direction or two.
403 not a bad deal for all the windows you had installed. However i prefer the glass blocks built with mortar between the blocks. That silicone tends to discolor over the years and become brittle and lose its strength. Im hoping to make my basement more comfortable with the addition of glass block. Good vid.
I can actually enjoy my basement this winter. I can't see why anyone would not want their, rusty drafty and sticky windows replaced. Thanks again. Still looking as good as day one.
3 degrees outside. Basement good just from the heat leaking from the ductwork and the furnace. Guessing about 60 degrees. Coupons are usually found in the ads that get mailed every week and sometimes in things like reach magazine (it's a local thing). Free, full of ads and comes in mail too.
It was $403 for all 4 windows last spring. They were 14X31" . size. Feels better in the basement last few mornings when it was 30 degrees outside. Call them for an in home estimate and play hardball if you have to. You can also wait for a sales ad in the paper when they have a special. I went through servicemagic. Got a free dryer vent or screen vents if I remember right.
I just picked the highest security pattern they had. Windows are great. Found a house not too far away with at least 100 blocks on the front. I want to aim a laser pointer at it and trip them out.
Looks cool air vents help glass block windows
