  • HI do u mean a two way plow ?

  • Hi Neil, got a question for you if you look at The Amish in Pa. Ploughing, working (video) posted by stopliesseetruth (anyway misconstruded I am thinking) but what my question is have you seen a plough like that one in your travels like this one and if you have any history on it? I like the thought of working from one side of the feild to the other. any thoughts on it?

  • If I could plough a furrow that straight with the tractor I'd be showing it off on you tube! Love your videos!

  • Ahhh ....Very rythmic and quiet way of life.

  • Will do. Thanks.

  • Neal, what does it take to come there and learn from you?

  • @PinkBelle2006 give me a call and let me know what day ull be here, 17806031590

  • Think I'll send you my Perch mare and you can put her in that hitch and show her a good days work. LOL

Nice video... thanks for sharing. :)

  • that dog is so funny! and you have amazingly handsom horses!!!

  • I wish all farming was done with horses ,lovely job .

  • I often wish we could go back to horse as our main form of transportation. It sure would be better for the land. Nice video.

  • when do u know the horses are tiring? How many acres could u do with horse ploughing

  • learn to plow with a walking plow and when u need a rest so do THEY

  • @KrazyLolli you can plough one acre in one day. Thats the definition of an acre.

  • @KateFan u can plow one acre per horse per day if their fit, so the 8 head u see i the video will plow at least 8 acres a day, an acre is ruffy 16 feet wide by 1/2 mile long

  • where do u learn to do horse ploughing?

  • I teach this

  • hey Neil are there any good books on ploughing out there that you can recommend for a person starting out?

  • LInn Miller as a good one but the best is an old one called Plows and Plowing by Mcgregor

  • neil whats the trick to driving 2 teams like that, I've tried and was less than the successful, stuck with 3 abreast.

  • The easiest way to start is to get good on a wagon first then plow, you need a good equalizer evener as well like the Talkington or the one supplied by the plow manufacturer, all made very good 4up eveners and in the op's manual most recommended 4up over 4 abreast

  • thats a nice plow did u find it in that shape or do some work on it

  • we rebuild them from the ground up, one is a JD and the other is a Cockshutt which is the better by far, we have one of north america's largest collections of working horse machines

  • You know, people should start using horses like this again. But American people have gotten to relying on the market's instead of producing themselves. I think it is wonderful to see someone doing this with there horses and truly using them for what God intended.

    Thanks!

    Laura
