@johannsmith81 My wife is from Brasil and was already here when I married her. But if you want no hassles she needs to come over legally. Best way to make it happen is: 1. You visit her in PI. 2. Have her come over on a fiance visa. Then I think you have 6 months to get married. But I really do not know for sure because I never did it like that. My wife came to the USA legally on a tourist visa. Then her tourist visa expired and she was my girlfriend when I met her. Then I married her.
@johannsmith81 What I am surprised about if that when she was illegal status she was not penalized for it. She got her green card. The fastest method to get the 10 year green card is to NOT apply until after you have been married for 3 years. If you apply only after 2 years of marriage you must go to 2 immigration interviews and still must be married for 3 years. So I waited for 3 years before I applied for her green card.
