@xxMemorieZ Nah its definately flex bro, sick wasnt in gambler yet at this point, and if you watch the battles he has completely different moves than sick
You gotta understand. BOTY doesn't measure the musicality and foundation. It's matter of who does dope shit. Gamblers did dynamic powermoves that was beyond everyone's level. Even if it's sloppy, they won. And also, other crews weren't as competitive and good as Gamblers. There are lot other dope crews out there that don't enter BOTY. BOTY is only 1 crew from each country. So it's only 4 dope crews and 20 mediocre crews from non-bboy phenomena countries
Lazer at the start failed to generate enough energy at the start and had to keep pushing throughout. 1:18 someone was way to early, 1:32 another syncro error. 2:40 Darkness lost balanced. So on and so on.
My point was that it was sloppy even in what should have been easy elements for GamblerZ.
Needless to say their musicality and foundation was low.
Oh and I do believe the French crew had a higher score.
I know. their powermoves were sloppy. If you wanna see a clean version, watch their show in BOTY 2004 Korea. That one was clean actually. But all I'm saying is, they won because there were no other crews that did better. Fantastik Armada did have higher score but they sucked big time in a battle.
Most bboys in the U.S. don't see BOTY as a prestigious bboy competition.
Armada probably could have won if they got serious. Gambler was so aggressive in that battle.
In any case why would Bboys in U.S see BOTY as prestigious?
Most of them are happy with what happens in their country. ABDC actually seems prestigious to them no matter how washed out those Bboys are.
Seeing as they have lost the Bboy throne they likely won't ever care for it again. Last win was in 99 and by sending Knuckleheads every year they'll never win.
The performance wasnt sloppy by any means, that seems a little harsh. There was only one big mistake at 3:44 but other than that it was clean considering their level of power. Gamblerz will generally do the most difficult power moves around and to put so many into a show is risky and damn near impossible to pull off. Its rare that you will find a 6 minute bboy showcase go off without any mistakes.
Regardless, the battles are what BATTLE of the year is all about, and Gamblerz dominated there.
If you actually believe it wasn't sloppy by any means you really aren't watching.
BOTY Korea they were cleaner.
I have also listed a bunch of small mistakes that should have been avoided in a previous post. To actually miss a synchronization in freezes by a second is just pure proof of nervousness. It should have been easy considering the beat was simple and all.
Gambler dominated in the battle not the performance.
As for a clean show. All Area, Phase T, Top 9 have done it.
Sloppy would not be the right word to describe this performance. It had some mistakes but is still one of the most memorable at BOTY.
No other crew does power moves like Gamblerz and to put those moves in their show and making it clean is incredibly difficult, but they only had one big mistake here.
The crews you mentioned make mistakes in their shows too, but Im not going to argue with you. I have my opinion and you have yours.
But its fairly clear that Gambler was nervous. Small mistakes add up.
But your wrong about the listed crew's mistakes. Have you looked at their score cards?
You really should, its near perfect, with score lost not to mistakes but to preference. Also you realize if Gambler did this exact performance now their score would have been far lower?
Standards are higher and with as much power moves as this performance they would have been ripped apart.
I dont think their "little mistakes" count much against them, again this is considering the difficulty in their moves.
I've seen their score cards. All Area got just about the same score as Gamblerz this past BOTY, and All Area does make small mistakes. Just compare their BOTY Asia and Int shows. Phase T makes mistakes too, their shows always seem hectic to me.
Of course standards have changed, just look at Gamblerz 09 showcase. Its completely different from their power shows.
Gamblerz over extreme anytime anywhere.. haven't heard much about extreme lately while gamblerz is still going strong with new members like Kill and Timon. They have balanced their crew with both style and power and now the end is back 2010 is going to be gamblerz' year :)
uh crazy geun? jun? blonde? blue? baek isnt the only nasty powerhead. baek just has a different style, doesnt necessarily mean his power is better. i personally will take bboy bruce lee over all them because bruce lee is the most stylistic power head IMO. he follows beats and can variate to what ever he wants.
i know what you mean, in my eyes, blond has more variation style. but bruce lee can make simple airflares look good by his musicality. blond is juts fun to watch !!!
Bboy Pop is my favorite bboy but just because he does planches and probably the best crickets in the world doesnt automatically put them above Extreme Crew. Forearm to wrist blowups, 2000 on the knuckles, Baek's transitions, hell man I like Gamblerz better too but you gotta respect Extreme Crew for all they do.
I think they still are korea's best powerheads, the only thing is that the end is still injured and I'm not sure whether kill has officially joined gamblerz or not.. if that is the case, they're definitely the crew with the best powerheads of korea, if not the world (furious, bruce lee, kill, the end :x) but yeah, gamblerz has become a great balanced crew with the powerheads and styleheads like king so and noodle.
Never said he was. He guests for Gamblerz all the time. Tell me something, @ 2:12, when do you see ever see Sick do a pike with a leg behind his head? Flex pretty much does it every battle. AND on top of that, if you go on Flex's myspace, he has that picture of him at BOTY 2004 on stage, with Gamblerz, doing what he did at 2:12, which proves my contradiction even further. So yeah, I'm 100% correct, just so you know.
hey newdayz01, that couldn't be true, darkness couldnt have been 17 at boty2004 cuz he was at boty2005, which would mean he'd be 18, but he wouldnt even be there since korea has a military draft at 18yrs of age
there is a military obligation, but its not a draft. you can choose when to go...you dont have to go at 18..you can go later in your 20's if you want.
yeah i agree partly to what u said, more dynamics and choreography. but when i look a showcases one of the key things i look for is teamwork and cleaness. i dont know, jus my opinion
yeah i know. Cleanliness is always compromised with difficulty. But the way put their ideas together in combination with their skills and music, makes it one of their best. You can see the big improvement they made from 2003 and 2004 showcases

@AstrayChronicle they had a little mistake but this was the best performance in BOTY 04
Physicx1993 1 year ago
@Physicx1993
Best performance was actually the French Crew. It had a higher score.
Not hating Gambler or anything but they got lucky the judges didn't lower their score further for errors.
AstrayChronicle 1 year ago
@AstrayChronicle
no, look again.
ranking after the show, gambler was ranked higher than fantastik armada
westcoastzilla 1 year ago
@westcoastzilla
Lol. If it wasn't higher after the show then how could they have won.
AstrayChronicle 1 year ago
@AstrayChronicle
after the show as in after the showcase, not the competition itself.
You claimed that Fantastik Armada's showcase scored better than Gambler's.
I'm challenging that claim.
westcoastzilla 1 year ago
@westcoastzilla
I did look again. The French Crew has a higher score.
BOTY ranks winners by the lower score.
Also you realize the judge sheets is what really matters right?
AstrayChronicle 1 year ago
@AstrayChronicle
Are we looking at the same judge sheet?
Gambler has 8 points, ranked as number 1.
Fantastik Armada gathered 12 points, ranked as number 2.
Where are you getting your judge sheet?
I'm getting mine from battle of the year website, it's in the past events section.
westcoastzilla 1 year ago
@westcoastzilla
Lol like I said earlier its ranked by lower score. A higher score is bad.
Also the Judge sheets are not from BOTY website.
That's rank total your looking at.
AstrayChronicle 1 year ago
@AstrayChronicle
go to past events, click on event details and click on BOTY 2004, because first page on past events only shows the battle results.
And I will state again, Gambler had 8 (EIGHT) points. FA had 12 (TWELVE) points.
8 < 12
It matches what you said, that lower score is better, higher score is bad. 8 is lower than 12. 8 is lowest on that sheet.
Just wandering where is the judgesheet that you are looking at?
Because I did notice that BOTY site can be bit inconsistent at times.
westcoastzilla 1 year ago
@westcoastzilla
As I had said to someone earlier I "recalled". I do believe I found it somewhere before.
Its not on the site strange as it seems. In any case I can't recall the site that i found the judge sheets at.

I'm not going to lie. This was one sloppy performance.
But I guess the judges saw more then there errors and gave them the win.
If you guys are going to thumb me down. Take a look over the vid. It was no where near perfect.

You know the difference between one point at 50 and one point at 90 right? The closer to perfection the more value each point has.
All Area is perfect from what I can tell. R16 show was perfectly made and executed. Kinda why they took the win right?
Phase T shows are always like that, a carnival I suppose. Still the Judges see it positively.

this one is much better. more dynamic, much better choreography, dancing with the music more, and better group dancing and breaking sequences

yeah i agree partly to what u said, more dynamics and choreography. but when i look a showcases one of the key things i look for is teamwork and cleaness. i dont know, jus my opinion

yeah i know. Cleanliness is always compromised with difficulty. But the way put their ideas together in combination with their skills and music, makes it one of their best. You can see the big improvement they made from 2003 and 2004 showcases
