you need a microphone and an electric instrument, best a synthesizer, but e-guitar also works,-

use is foolproof: plug in instrument in 1/4 jack, plug

micro in XLR, connect XLR OUT with a mixer, an amplification/PA.....

Now play - single notes or chords for vocoder, harmony mode requires chords! - and sing simultaneously, like above.

(you don´t even have to connect the 1/4 instr.OUT,

the EFFECT SIGNAL lies on the XLR OUT.)

If your mac has a 1/8 inch line input on it somewhere, then yeah, all you need is an adapter. Input is a little weak, might need a booster if you don't have the newest version of Garage Band.

you will need 2 male to female microphone leads and 2 guitar/keyboard leads to use vocoder. i have just got mine but as yet have not played with it as i never realized you would need two mic leads. i have a pre-amp so i am keeping my fingers crossed that i will be able to use it on my macbook, maybe via usb.

It's a vocoder - so you'd need something to feed it tones and notes - like a guitar, keyboard or alike. You would probably be able to add two microphones - and the one would follow the econd - but who knows.

Well, I've always liked EHX, in every sense (designs, prices, innovation) I own 5 of their pedals and my 1st real distortion was an English Muff'n.

So, I was planning on getting a H.O.G. eventually cus I've always liked vocoders and I had thought of a really complicated setup to use it as a guitar-controlled vocoder, or at least buy a Korg R3 in the meantime.

Electro Harmonix is cool, they're allways experimenting with new kinds of effects,some good, some bad, but at least they try, and they keep it affordable.

This baby set me back 179,- Euro's today, but that's still 5 times cheaper then any vintage vocoder, IF you can find one at all.
