  • Great post! thanks for all your input on this. I was on the fence about getting the Konova but I think I'm going for it! (it will be my first one!)

  • With one you recomend the 80 cm or the 100 cm ? Thanks ( I want for wedding and portraits )

  • the lighting also perfect! how u did it?

  • ohh mann...the cinematographer damn nice...what lens n cam u used?

  • does the tilty head thing come with the slider?

  • @ItsDanielDuane - I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Check out the Manfrotto 222 joystick model.

  • What cam and len's you're used to film yourself in this video ?

  • @estudioamapa all the gear is listed on my gear page on my site.

  • Will this work with any tripod? I don't have a professional or very expensive tripod so would it still work?

  • @MsRustyMitten it will with any decent tripod, check out my gear page for what I use.

  • THANK YOU. After seeing your review, I went out and purchased the Konova slider. What a quality product. It works great. And your tip of placing your finger on the rail as you slide, so simple yet it made all the difference!

  • Have you seen Hague or Glidetrack?

  • watch?v=VjCBvrh3JQ8

  • Sorry - WS-10[Rail-Track-Dia]-80[Rail-Width]-[(various)Length]

IGUS - these are made for industrial application

  • watch?v=OApBpJP-c4w

    watch?v=DrAOeYCF60g

    watch?v=3g1xb992Qyg

Looked at a few options but this seems the best cost effective and steardy option for me for use "as is" and modification. WS-10-80-[width] seems to be the best for less friction [jerking]. I am planning to make a motorised one for timelapse movement. Not sure if it fits in with what you were looking at but take it as info ;).

  • watch?v=X9dCFwYeTEc - German technology ;)

  • Fantastic video. Really informative and the same excellent quality as most of your other videos. Now if only the slider was in the sub-$100 range I would be able to afford it.

  • how long is your version ?? i have the 80cm version !

  • Can you recommend a good tripod to use with the Konova slider? I have the 1m version and I got the Weifeng WF-7171H ballhead. All is great but I'd love to find a sturdy tripod that I can also use the same kind of shoe mount.

  • @joejumps4fun I like the tripod I have listed on my gear page, not light weight but great for a tall guy like me.

  • @joejumps4fun You might want to check out the next version that replaces the 717. It's the FC-270.

  • @joejumps4fun manfrotto has some tripods with legs that have 2 positions. one is the standard andle then they have a wide sitting angle thats perfect for things with a wide distribution of weight

  • @joejumps4fun

if it's not too late, check BENRO A-300 with BH-1 head (6kg max) all together for 120bucks

  • Like it the only problem, but sometimes I find it hard to keep a steady pace of the camera with the hand/finger. How do you pull focus with it?

  • hey dave what video editing program do you use to make your videos or this one where you can overlap 2 vidoes...i dont think windows movie maker does it... thanks

  • @JRFvids I use Premiere, you can see a list of all the gear I use on my gear page on my site.

  • Thanks for the quality review Dave. I just ordered one. :-)

  • Love your videos, i watch them all the time. keep them coming.

  • Very nice! I just finished up building a igus slider that is motorized with a servo and servo driver.... I built the whole thing for about $200 bux, but the only thing is motion more restricted than a ball bearing setup. Sometime down the line Ill prolly pick up this slider and modify it for motorized use

    Very cool dave!

  • Pretty Cool! I must get this! Great Video btw!

  • I have the Konova too. I plan to get a variable speed drill, attach a string to the drill and make it slide.

Also, what is the name of the joystick?

  • @Olphus I have it listed on my gear page on my site.

  • good stuff

  • DAVID, it amazes me how quickly this job of mine (video, photo, audio producer) becomes history.. I can not say any longer that there are not many pros in the field.

There are a lot of pros already, - like you, and there are no jobs anymore "for us" the other "old Pros".. So, I quit.... selling my equipment and going to learn web programming...

About your telephoto - stabilization.. - there is footage stabilizer option in After effects CS5, select 2 or more points on you video and stabilize..

  • what is the name of the grip and where did you get it?

  • I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your show. The information you provide is incredibly valuable for a DSLR newbie like me. Thank you, and keep up the good work!

  • Dave,

how long is the one you are using? It appears there are 2 different length Konova sliders. The short one seems real limited. Did you buy any of the accessories? (sideslide accessory) Now that I look at their website they might have 3 lengths. 80,100, and 120cm.....And I am so bad at metric, I need to pull out my metric converter

  • Shame on you Dave.... how am I going to tell my wife that I spent $300 on a slide... :)

Great review and awesome video montage.

  • Keep it up! GREAT REVIEW! you should look into upgrading to a Canon 60D. Articulating screen comes in handy!

  • In regards to your comment about reviewing footage on your screen, I strongly recommend a LCDVF 3:2. The usefulness of it for reviewing footage (for bumps while gliding) and getting the right exposure is priceless.

  • hey dave what is the head the slider is attached to on your tripod?

  • 6:15 how did you record this? was it recorded by another person or yourself with tripod? If yourself with tripod how did you keep it focused for the whole shot?

  • @Snakekilla12 My friend Dave recorded that most likely at a high f stop.

  • Awesome review Dave. Do you have Premiere CS5? It has beefed up support for h.264. Just wondering if you have used it and have any thoughts on it.

  • @zackademics Yes, I am really liking CS5.

  • thanks a lot, great review!

  • AWESOME!!

  • @djalessandromagno Thanks!

  • Yet another great review. Nicely done! I really like your approach to these reviews.

  • @bbenthin Thanks for saying that.

  • very nice review! as always!

  • Great review, thanks Dave!

  • GREAT FUCKING REVIEW! lol

  • as always a great review Dave

    Thanks :)

  • Amazing, great info! Love your Montage Film...Brilliant quality...Big respect...Greetings from New Zealand...

  • Have not put my hands on the Konova yet but I really love the Drylin friction system. The tolerances are really tight and it is smooth and probably less susceptible to the dust/grass issue. Weight has very little impact on my slider. I only wish it was longer.

  • Hey Dave great review. I picked one up 2 months ago. I like it. I would rather have the PB Pocket dolly. The crank and optional motor is awesome. But the price is way out there. So I'm happy with the Konova.

What did you use for re-lubrication?

  • @Fibr3Optix yes, the price is way out there, I think this one is a good option for budget minded people like myself.

  • @drumat5280 What about the lube you used?

  • can the T2i record at 60 FPS?

  • @rafa3944 yup

  • @rafa3944 yes. Also have you ever heard of 'magic lantern' firmware? you might want to check it out...

  • @mmaghfai yes I have lots of tutorials on ML.

  • @rafa3944 oh, yes.

  • @rafa3944 all day long! (720p)

  • nice!

  • maybe ill upgrade from my indislider..

  • Thanks!

  • I was waiting for this too! I just looked at this slider on ebay today! Is it worth it?

  • @PifWorks I think so.
