I cannot understand what you base your ranking at. The best soldiers are those that fight for a real cause. The comparatively underarmed Vietnamese, Koreans, Iraqis, Afghans have proved that. When you fight for your freedom, you fight more effectively.

The protests had been more peaceful but the protesters were arrested, beaten and driven away and no one listened. The responce: The protests are now more violent and the responce will be worse. Eventually, freedoms could be taken away and that could create a bloody revolution. It's time for both sides to calm down, sit down and talk. @astrofrk Fiscally the country is better off than most of Europe, that was my only point. I was replying to a comment on how we should "learn from europe" and right now they're not doing so well. They did dig themselves into a hole by promising people more than the government could pay for. The U.S. has it's share of problems, but I hope we do learn from europe that massive social programs bankrupt nations before it happens to us.

It's easy to say: "Cut social programs" but I can't find work, lost my home last month and Unemployment Compensation ran out last week but I just got a govornment extension. If you were in my shoes, would you turn it down and let your family go hungry? I will tell you this: One way or another, we WILL eat, whether the means is legal or not! But remember: These politicians filled thier pockets to corporate intrests that sold our jobs away!

Politics in general these days seems to be either "cut the government drastically" or "grow the government drastically", nobody says "responsibly fund the stuff we have now without drastic cuts or growth" That's what I would favor. We really can't afford to pay for a euro-style cradle-to-grave welfare state, but I'm not saying that's what we have now, that's what I hope we don't move towards or we'll wind up like Greece.
