In school we learned a bit about the history of English accents, and you're "the original" accent is a bit off. While that might be the way it's often performed, Shakespeare's English supposedly sounded more like the Northern-Scotland accent of today.
Well, kinda, but only in that it had pure vowel sounds and that throat-clearing sound as in "loch". You'd have to imagine Yosemite Sam speaking Scots with a Norfolk accent... you wouldn't have understood a word.
Anyway, by "original" I didn't mean an accent Shakespeare would have understood. I meant a "normal" actor doing a decent job, to compare with all the absurd versions.
Haahaaa! Total geil. Ich hab mir vor Lachen fast in die Hose gemacht! Am besten ist die britische Rede. There is no ear-crisis....:-). Das könnte echt von Monty Python sein...
Buwahahahahaha....Genau! Gleichberechtigung für alle, auch Countrywoman, Countrymen and Citywoman and citymen...Just hilarious. Keep on doing that stuff!! ^-^
Also... das Intro war schon auf meinem "Have you a clue?"-Video zu sehen. Das hast du auch gesehen -- schließlich hast du auch dort einen Kommentar geschrieben... ;)

Ja, wir hatten halt gedacht: Wir haben die Wände doch tapeziert; sie auch noch zu verkleiden wäre zu viel des Guten.

awesome, especailly the wedding reception in german - I'm loving it...
I never thought that we (german speaking people) are so pathetical with the subjunctive case...
so maybe this is not an entirely 'clean sentence' therefore I try again in german:
Ich habe nicht gewusst dass wir 'der deutschen Sprache (welch ironie...) mächtigen' Leute so pathetisch mit dem Konjunktiv umgehen....
my favorite is the 1950 thiller type. short but impressive...
D
Cromeman82 3 years ago
pathetisch = solemn
pathetic = erbärmlich (it's a false friend...)
Hmm. I didn't know the subjunctive featured so strongly there. It's speeches Germans are solemn about, unless it's Fasching.

Der arme Akkuschrauber. Der kann doch nun wirklich auch nichts dafür. ;)

I hope those wedding receptions weren't from personal experience hahaha.
The British political speech was also very good. 5 stars!
MarcImmeker 3 years ago
You can always rely on a German to make a party seem like a university lecture...
(Ooh, was that politically incorrect? Yes, probably.)

My American accent has its moments, but as a linguist, I really ought to be able to do better than that.
