Nice work Dan. I had a similiar problem with my smoke element burning through my rocket body. I solved this problem by adding a small smoke canister that deploys with the parachute. The smoke canister falls well below the parachute and rocket body before it is ignited by a visco fuse. The visco is ignited with the parachute deployment charge. I am currently playing around with the addition of metal powder to my smoke mix, so I can fly (and find) my rocket at night.
Thanks. I fixed the problem by adding a PVC coupling right under the end cap. This gave that area that's hot some extra insulation and hasn't burned through since.
I can't believe that was almost a year ago. The Coyote Rocket design has come such a long way since then. By the end of the year I'll have a book out detailing the construction of every part of the rocket including the apogee detector and piston.
wow, I'm speechless that was one great rocket flight. I'm looking forward to build one =D, but not the one launched from a stick. I shall have my very own space program... maybee
what is the brand of time delay relay you use?

Congratulations!!!
Does this then prove that a simple mercury switch will work if the current is high enoph to blow the ejection charge without hesitation?
Can you do a video or give an explination of how your making your flex. fuel. The idea of a long motor that isn't bates grain is really cool to me.
again congrats.
