kurt cobain at first hate it cause it was difficult to set up but after some modifications he grew up comfortable enough to use it occasionaly for entires shows
The only guitar reviewer I have respect for is Scott Grove. He has the coolest guitars you'll ever see and he can play the shit out of both this guy and Phil XYZLoser.
i've got a '95 jag and i love it. through my orange ad30 it has so much texture and response it's almost unreal. it's a scary thought, but i'm beginning to like it more than my les paul. i've been a gibson guy for years. always felt like i'd break any fender i pick up, but the jag is a solid piece of work. i play alot of bends w/ reverb and the tone and "scoop" in the note is everything i've been looking for. plus, it weighs a hell of alot less than the paul. get. this. guitar!
I pre-ordered one of these when it came out. But when I finally played it at the store for 20 minutes I just said nah, I can't buy this. Cheap toy junk. Notice how this guy barely plucks & strums this guitar. That's because if you really wail on it it goes seriously out of tune. Cool idea with poor manufacturing. Save up and go vintage!
I wish they wouldn't have made this guitar so cheap if they made the jagstang with nice parts it could be an awesome guitar but i feel like they didn't even try
WTF!? nice vibrato?? do this guy smoke weed?? its soo bad >:( it goes out of tune so fast when you use it.. Kurt got his locked becaouse its real shit. would be nice to se it with a jag or strat vibrato pice
this isn't 'kinda kurt's signature model, it is. he didn't want his name on it to make it official because he hated that about les pauls and guitars that where named after their conceptualist, and then produced. he felt that would disturb the users flow with it, as it did him. he had two custom shop models made for him. he died before he could even look at or touch the second one. you can hear the real one. (the second one) is in REM's" what's the frequency keneth" video.
this guitar was Fenders way of getting some quick cash from the death of Cobain. He ordered two of these from the custom shop, and commited suicide before he recieved the second one.... now owned by the guitarist for REM. it has the short scale 24.5 inch vs the stratocaster/telecaster 25.5 inch scale. it fingers much quicker and easier because of this.
@adamz1988 its actually fairly decent if you swap the pickups. the body shape is really comfortable. don't listen to this guy at all, hes a total tool. honestly, the actual guitar is worthless except for the fact its literally the most comfortably guitar ever. swap the pickups and it's very good. if you've ever used any MIJ or CIJ fender's it's really comparable.
sorry for asking about the pickups again, ha, i asked that about a month ago. my bad. I still need to know about the switches though so I can try and wire it back to original. thanks
i recently got a original 1996 fiesta red jagstang, and im wondering two things. what are the original pickups? and how the switches work, like in what position, because someone changed mine, and wired it wrong. any help will be appreciated,
I just bought one but the pickups arnt original. I want to swap them out for original, do you know what original are? I know some kind of humbucker, and I thought a Texas special in the neck,
How could the jagstang been produced first in 1995? Kurt used prototype models if I am remembering right.. (could be wrong but swear seeing him with the guitar)
@frenchfriedfrenchmen he owned but but only played one due to him not being fully satisfied. my guess is he ment to tweak it more before his death but died before he could perfect it.
@TheMarchingMaggot your guess is correct he was supposed to receive the fiesta red jag stang soon but died before they could get it to him. the original sonic blue was sent back to the factory with notes on the guitar of the perfections he wanted done on it. However again because of his death they sent it out the way the original prototypes were.
@guitarfreakRSS i really wish fender would re-release these guitars, not only in the original proto types, but they should also perfect it to the way kurt wanted and sell those as well
@TheRealSonicYouth It was released to the public in 1996, but he tested it out on the In Utero tour (1993-1994) only to find that he was unhappy with it/rarely played it. They had planned on reworking it but as we all know he died before Fender could do so. Instead of letting the design go to waste, they waited about a year and released this half completed version. -__- I'm sure it still sounds great, just not what he had in mind.
@burninganubis because believe it or not, people would like to know about the instrument. I think they should play it for a lot longer with different effects.
you did not state that Kurt Coabin actually hated this guitar and hardly played it, and then evntually killed himself for unknown reasons. fans of Kurt, do yourself a favour and go buy a blacktop jag HH. The Blacktop Jags have jazzmasteresque small curved body, small neck, same chrome hardware, just replace the knobs with mustang ones, they look like his epiphone et-270 with the Chrome covers on the HH's and similar pickup selector, Funky Headstock
Yeah, this guy is better than the guy from that other store who thinks he's Bon Jovi and always yells stuff like "yeeeaaaaahhhhHHHH!!" and flicks hair out of his face and stuff and thinks he's a 17 year old surfer dude from the 80s although he is a 45 year old failed musician from the 2011. But the best guy is Andy from proguitarshop.
failed musician? hes a great musician, he can play the full studio version of Whole Lotta Love, even that little interlude near the end, Eruption, hes one of the first sessions guitarists they call if they need an extra little magic, he was on Methods of Mayhem and the Daughtry record to name only 2.
"Failed musician"? try "Failed Celebrity", he actually was almost signed 3 times, but they either screwed him or the company defunct.
@Wodey25 are you referring to Phil X? because he is more successful then you think! he's played on alot of Bon Jovi's songs, as well as going on tour with them and playing on albums with Tommy Lee and Alice Cooper! so i think he's pretty successful tbf
That guy actually plays guitar for Bon Jovi. So I wouldn't say he's a failed musician. And at least he knows a thing or two about tone, unlike this guy, who plays all these fucking guitars on shitty Line 6 amps.
@Wodey25 Phil is a legend, he's toured with Bon Jovi and his band The Drills are awesome. I love Andy from PGS, and gearmanndude too. can't stand this guy though...
Fender sent Cobain several prototypes that he supposedly wasn't completely happy with. The model was mass produced posthumously and has gone in and out of production several times over the years.
@locohenry It was produced before 1996, they canceled producing it and set a new Production in 1996 for the fans, but they won't do another one. So there are 93' and 96' models of it. Peace.

I'd love to have this guitar, too bad they don't make 'em anymore, which is surprising seeing as how it's a one of a kind model designed by a legend in the music buisness.
@tonyhighflyer911 not at all, watch the video again, at 3:56 he holds up what he claims to be a japanese fender strat to make a comparison yet hes holding what is clearly an acoustic guitar, how do a gold top les paul and an acoustic look ANYTHING alike much less a jagstang and a strat?
@BameronCerry IIRC it's Sonic Blue. Maybe in the video it looks different, but I remember as a kid getting this guitar and wanting the Sonic Blue color.
i would do anything for a jagstang ive seen one in a shop but its way to high of my price range! i dont know how to put this sad or cool or what ever but didnt kurt get his jaguars and mustangs from pawn shops for like 50 bucks?
bieber=cobain??? why would he ever think that? has he ever heard nirvana? for fuck sake if hes just going to pick out a big star to compare himself to how about taylor from hanson.... yeah taylor hanson=justin bieber sounds about right to me.
i was watchin some documantaries about kurt cobain and the original idea he did for this guitar he did by taking a polaroid of his jaguar and his mustang and cutting them out and putting them together. The mustang and jaguar were kurts favourite guitars. (going by what documentaries said).
Does anyone know where to find a jagstang, a mustang, or an original G&L Rampage (not the Cantrell tribute series). I've been looking everywhere for these with no success :(
@NICKWAPPERER117 That depends on what you define as good quality and cheap. But really you're just going to have to look around. I found my Jag Stang by luck at a guitar center. It's original, not a reissue, and cost me $700. You're probably looking at something between that and $500 if you look around well enough. Maybe less if you find a reissue, but in my experience reissues usually (not always) don't play quite as well for any guitar.
@masterbate23 It's good for future music but it could also be a bad thing aswell because they might try to make it rap/Hip-hop/RnB/Dub-step and thats just not Kurt
@misterdotwookie he designed it in late 93 but Fender (I think) made him one or two but didn't take off on the idea until mid 95-96 and then discontinued them
@misterdotwookie He designed this guitar in late 93, and Fender sent him a few prototypes of the guitar, which he hated, he kept having to send them back because he was dissatisfied with them. So technically youre right this isnt Kurts guitar because it wasnt set up the way he wanted when he designed it.
what i love about kurt cobains guitaring is that he never did any of that fidly shit tat hedrix or slash or eddie van halen did if he did a solo it was ither following the melody of the song or he was basically strangeling the neck he was very indevidual about how he played it was amazing exactely why hes one of my favourite guitarists :) the guitar is fucking awesome i want one!!
this was a horrible review didnt specif what wood it was made from all u heard was kurt drew the idea up.. well DUH! and other than that i heard bla bla blah its blue sonic blue and uhhhhhhhh..... lets hear what it sounds like.. i feel he could go more in depth about the guitar.. and who uses digital solid state amps man?? those things are garbage use vintage solid states or buy a tube amp!!
I always wonder...i know you have awesome gear connects.. why do you choose a solid state line 6 amp for these videos? Some people seem to like to record on them better but... and dont get me wrong, your tone is actually pretty good.. I just find it strange
i would kill for a left handed 1 in that colour

La mejor guitarra de la historia

i was watchin some documantaries about kurt cobain and the original idea he did for this guitar he did by taking a polaroid of his jaguar and his mustang and cutting them out and putting them together. The mustang and jaguar were kurts favourite guitars. (going by what documentaries said).

Does anyone know where to find a jagstang, a mustang, or an original G&L Rampage (not the Cantrell tribute series). I've been looking everywhere for these with no success :(
mike26151915 11 months ago
Any one know where i can legitimatley get a good quality Jag Stang...Cheap?
NICKWAPPERER117 11 months ago
@NICKWAPPERER117 That depends on what you define as good quality and cheap. But really you're just going to have to look around. I found my Jag Stang by luck at a guitar center. It's original, not a reissue, and cost me $700. You're probably looking at something between that and $500 if you look around well enough. Maybe less if you find a reissue, but in my experience reissues usually (not always) don't play quite as well for any guitar.

I don't care how a guitar looks. I am interested in tone and what I can do with it.

i see alot of young kids on the nirvana videos, i think thats good for the future generation of music
masterbate23 1 year ago 37
@masterbate23 It's good for future music but it could also be a bad thing aswell because they might try to make it rap/Hip-hop/RnB/Dub-step and thats just not Kurt
thebeerfest2008 9 months ago
The Jag-Stang is too cartoonish for my tastes, but it sounds great.

This couldnt be kurt's guitar...he was dead two years before it came out according to the vid
misterdotwookie 1 year ago
@misterdotwookie he designed it in late 93 but Fender (I think) made him one or two but didn't take off on the idea until mid 95-96 and then discontinued them
guitargod9000 1 year ago
@misterdotwookie He designed this guitar in late 93, and Fender sent him a few prototypes of the guitar, which he hated, he kept having to send them back because he was dissatisfied with them. So technically youre right this isnt Kurts guitar because it wasnt set up the way he wanted when he designed it.

What is the red guitar behind him?
bettieguitar 1 year ago
tbh, Kurt didn't liked this finish that much and he was about to change the design.
curtc1 1 year ago
Kurt Cobain took a picture of a Jaguar and a Mustang cut them in half, taped them together and told Fender to make it...<.<

This guy annoys me so bad. He is shouting like an elephant, and he looks really really retarded when looking straight into the camera.
rukulathegamer 1 year ago
I want that! Why doesn't he play Nirvana song? Hey? I don't think he play Smells Like Teen Spirit at the end. I hope so....

what i love about kurt cobains guitaring is that he never did any of that fidly shit tat hedrix or slash or eddie van halen did if he did a solo it was ither following the melody of the song or he was basically strangeling the neck he was very indevidual about how he played it was amazing exactely why hes one of my favourite guitarists :) the guitar is fucking awesome i want one!!

I wish Squier or Fender would reissue the Jagstang, It would be a great Squier guitar, seeing as it's based on cheaper student guitars anyway.
ShaneMacgowanFan93 1 year ago
this was a horrible review didnt specif what wood it was made from all u heard was kurt drew the idea up.. well DUH! and other than that i heard bla bla blah its blue sonic blue and uhhhhhhhh..... lets hear what it sounds like.. i feel he could go more in depth about the guitar.. and who uses digital solid state amps man?? those things are garbage use vintage solid states or buy a tube amp!!
whitie234567890 1 year ago
I always wonder...i know you have awesome gear connects.. why do you choose a solid state line 6 amp for these videos? Some people seem to like to record on them better but... and dont get me wrong, your tone is actually pretty good.. I just find it strange
