I was in turn 1 at San Jose and Jay Springsteen got in too hot and was hitting the hale bales with his back wheel, and dove back across the track and never lost position.

Nice, AJ. I covered the last running of the San Jose Mile. We didn't know it would be that at the time though. Somewhere I still have a tape of the brief coverage of it from Motorweek Illustrated, hosted by Dave Despain and his hair, when he had it.
