i finished the book 2 it was depressing but wut kept me reading is the bond between the father and son it truly shows that love has no bound. and i am 12
it was a book I read with relish, and after that I had a burger. The prose was delightful, but so was the litre of Port I consumed while I read this tale. 5 stars from me.
This is going to be a magnificant movie. I can't wait for Blood Meridian.
Speaking of Blood Meridian, I was thinking yesterday of how much I miss the idea of Ridley Scott doing it and how Todd Field is now doing it. But it hit me that I think this would be a great film for Terrence Malick; writing and directing it. It's right up his alley with the philosophical theme and deepness to the characters.
You would probably enjoy it at 14 if you can handle a deep, serious read. Lots of the language used may be above your vernacular, some of it was above mine. The first 50 to 70 pages are sort of hard to get through because it is slow, but after that, you really get attached to the characters and enjoy it.
Thanks. I actually finshed reading the book yesterday it was great I understood it pretty well. Your right about the language usage, but I still understood the book. The book wasn't that long it took me like three nights only to finish it. I loved ti now i must see the movie
So Rupert Degas' voice is absolutely perfect for The Road. I purchased this audiobook on the basis of the trailer above. I knew it was abridged when I bought it, but I didn't know what "abridged" in this case meant: Entire sentences taken out; parts of sentences missing. It's too bad: Naxos must have had to agree to an abridged version, because an unabridged version already exists. If they do another full version, Rupert Degas should certainly be the voice to do it.
I purchased this audiobook and have listened to it. The fact that it is a good story aside, the presentation here is very well done. Rupert Degas has done a very good job of entoning the characters of the book. I've listened to alot of audio books, and this one is good.
Just those opening words. The sparseness and beauty of the prose is everything. One is in the presence of the most important book in the last fifty years and a new landmark in modern American literature.
do you know any good songs that can go with a this book. i finished reading it for my book report and now i need to make a soundtrack for it. can you please give me ideas or help me find any songs that has to do with anything about this book.
I actually finished the book the day after I bought it. I thought it was a very well written book! As far as ideas here are a couple of ideas my kids thought of: Boulevard of broken dreams, Adagio for strings [instrumental from Platoon] Imagine by John Lennon, Sound of Silence; Anyway, just a couple of ideas.
NEVER read this book in winter.

This book was amazing! Simply one of a kind, nothing like I have ever read before. Are there any books like this, can someone recommend?

@feedthefire Read 'Blood Meridian', his masterwork, and perhaps the best novel of the past 20 years.

I think the narration by Stechschulte is way better, he adds so much feeling to the story, my opinion though.

Is this book suitable to read for a fourteen year old? Because I'm considering getting the book and I'm wondering If I'd enjoy it.

Just heard the Stechschulte(unabridged) version -- which is very good, indeed. But still think Degas' voice is the perfect one for The Road.
